Boy howdy I've in an art slump and it's been going on for almost a month now. Hell, I forced myself to get this finished simply because, I haven't felt like doing anything arty. It really sucks and I just hope it soon passes.
Anyway, I thought I would try and finish some new Monster High artwork, but unlike my previous Monster High characters, this guy was first created when I was...12? Either way I had just seen Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie) and got inspired.
When he was first created back in...'93-'94, Raven here was originally a vampire, but I could never think of any real back story for him, let alone any distinguishing personality traits (aside from chivalry, does that count as a personality trait?), so after a good 10 years of trying to work with the poor guy, he wound up being cast off like so many of my older OCs.
Then recently, I re-watched The Monster Club (in all it's cheesy, low budget glory, which featured Vincent Price's only portrayal in his entire movie career as a vampire), which was one of my favourite movies as a kid (I remember telling *Enamorte awhile back about the "Stripper" scene in the film), and Raven awoke in the back of my mind, demanding a bit of a makeover as it were.
And then Raven became a Shadmock rather than a vampire.
What is a Shadmock? Well, Shadmocks are best left described by the vampire Eramus to horror writer R. Chetwyn-Hayes in the movie:
Eramus: "You see first we have the primate monsters: Vampires, Werewolves, and Ghouls. Now a Vampire and Werewolf would produce a Werevamp, but a Werewolf and a Ghoul would produce a Weregoo, but a Vampire and a Ghoul would produce a Vamgoo. A Weregoo and a Werevamp would produce a Shaddy. Now a Weregoo and a Vamgoo would produce a Maddy, but a Werevamp and a Vamgoo would produce a Raddy. Now if a Shaddy were to mate with a Maddy or a Raddy, the results would be a Mock."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "A Mock?"
Eramus: "Frankly that's just a polite name for 'Mongrel'. You know it's quite simple really. All you have to do is remember the basic rules of Monsterdom. Vampire sup, Werewolves hunt, Ghouls tear. Shaddies lick, Maddies Yawn, Mocks blow, but Shadmocks only whistle."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "Shadmocks?"
Eramus: "If a Mock were to mate with any of the other hybrids, their offsprings would be called 'Shadmocks'."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "And they only whistle."
Eramus: "Well they don't do it very often."
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "It doesn't sound too terrifying."
Eramus: "Ohhhhhhh, but you should see the results of a Shadmock's whistling. Shadmocks are the lowest in the monster hierarchy, and yet they have this Power!"
R. Chetwynd-Hayes: "What happens when a Shadmock whistles?"
Eramus: "I heard of a man once who saw the results of a Shadmock's whistling. That's all he saw...and yet...and yet..."
And that's a shadmock. Shadmocks are considered the lowest in the monster kingdom (making them most likely lower than zombies in accordance with the Monster High canon). Despite this, shadmocks are normally feared by other monsters as well as humans who do not even realize their heritage. Even Raven's own parents gave him up out of this fear...fear the shadmock will whistle in the event that they were upset (this ability isn't used often and it's only used if the shadmock is upset, frightened, or threatened. Shadmocks have little control over this ability so one would have to be very careful in their presence).
Lucky for Raven, he was adopted by the vampire Eramus (who has a vast knowledge of monsters) and was raised by the old vampire. Raven eventually became employed as a waiter at the Monster Club to help him get over his anti-social behaviour. Later, Eramus would send Raven to Monster High is hopes that the shadmock would make some friends...friends who would see past his mixed heritage and not fear him.

I know what you mean, I'm strict about my friends too. Even if my friend gets another friend, I'm usually the one they have to ask if its OK for that person to be in our little group of friends. It kinda makes me feel bad since I hate to judge and all, but some people are just... I don't know. Lol..

Ah, I didn't know about this. I mean I know teen Sims can fall in love with adults in the base game (this happened to me at least twice, the first time the teen got mad because the object of his affection made out with HER HUSBAND).
No idea, but apparently at my school if you're not doing realism or abstract then you're doing it wrong.
Yeah, I have to REALLY get to know a person before I really consider them friends. I've had people on here just start talking to me like we've known each other for YEARS and it freaks me out at first. I'm a bit nicer here then I am in real life, but I'm still not very outgoing. O_O;
My Advisor says I need to apply for the Art Institure ASAP since the longer I'm at Acraven the more of my financial aid is just be wasted. So, once we get a proper car, I'm applying and then signing up to attend an open house for the school.

I know. Thing was I had an alien across the neighborhood who pretty much made the ideal boyfriend for him. There's nothing like shy Sims interacting romantically with one another. It's too cute.
I got Sims 3 a few days ago (albeit used) so I've been playing that a bit in hopes that it would take my mind off my stress.
Apparently so. Now here's hoping if I can ever make it to art school they'll be more open-minded, especially given I'm going to be taking game design courses there. I was told I can learn things that would become handy in the comic industry.
Yeah, I can think of two people on here right off who freaked me out by just being...so outgoing. O_O;

Sims is pretty much the only basic way to get stress down, well, only if you like the game that is, lol. So how do you like it? I know some simmers take sides. I think both sims 2 and 3 are great games!

Yeah I agree, and I don't have many friends who play the play, let alone like it. ^.^; I still think I prefer Sims 2 for the story telling element, actually being able to see my Sims why on community lots, and having a custom neighborhood from the start. Sims 3 is nice though, and I do like how you can flesh our their personalities more.
I hope so. I hear there's a new lady in the art department where I am now, and she's an awful teachers. No one in the art department likes her, and even the guy with the 4.2 GPA is failing her class. >.>;

So far I have about four friends in real life who play the sims, so far only one have recently quit though. She got pretty bored with the sims 2. I suggested tryingout sims 3, but she was having it! To me it would seem the sims 3 is more just for playing. I've been hearing a ton of players online say that they'll stick to sims 2 for filming their projects and such.

I don't have any friends who play Sims myself. I got the Generations EP now though so it's been a little more fun. I wish both my boy's Imaginary Friends could be real, but I ran out of room in their house, so right now the younger of the Twins started dating his IF. I had a feeling he was gay, and showing attraction for his IF confirmed my suspicions.
I'm steering clear of her for real realz. I had actually thought about taking Sculpting next semester until I found out she was teaching it. Man, all the good teachers are leaving my school. I just heard the lady I had for Developmental Psych left...and I wanted to take her Abnormal Psych class.

Ohh, I absolutely hate it when all the really great teachers decide to up and leave! My old middle school is just down the street from where I live, and all off my teachers have gone now! I really built a connections with them too. That's also the suckish part, mising them and such.

'm having too much fun with Generations so far. Poor Marion got grounded the day before prom, her dad and stepmom got one of those free vacations, she went to school (why do the parents ground you from school?) then went to prom, got home, parents were home before the two days and grounded her again. She cleans house, goes to sleep, gets up, makes her bed, dad forgives her. Meanwhile her boyfriend has gotten arrested THREE TIMES for being out after curfew and his mom ungrounded him every time he begged forgiveness.
The only other EPs for Sims 23 I want right now are Late Night and Supernatural. I also want the 70s 80s 90s Stuff pack that's coming out next month.
I had an IF as a kid, but he was a red anthro dragon, not a cross between a Raggedy Ann doll and a Moogle. ^.^;
His IF looks a bit weird as a Sim, but still cute. I had to change his voice in CAS though. He had his voice as max deepness and it made me think of that episode of Family Guy where Chris and his friends ate the shrooms. "We shoundna did this, man!"
Man, my 5th grade Health/Social Studies teacher died the year he was going to retire. He was so nice too.
My last day of Social Psych was Thursday and I gotta study for my History Exam, and once the Exam is over I officially begin holiday break! <3

There are *a ton* of EPs I want, even including the Pirates and Nobles one for the Medieval games they made for sims! But did you hear? they're finally making University for the sims 3!! (am exicted mostly due to that fact that universirty was my FAVORITE sims 2 EP, and because the online stream w/ gameplay they did for the game looked awesome >w<)

Man, I think Sims 3 was the reason I was getting Blue-Screened even when I wasn't playing though. It kinds of sucks, so no more playing until I get a new compy or a new graphics card. ^.^;
Yeah, funny part is that's pretty in-character for Sedva. S/he's...carefree and a bit bubbly.
I'll just be happy if I can get all the main EPS for Sims 2 and Mansion and Garden stuff.
OOh it was. I fixed it though so his voice is a bit softer than his boyfriend's voice. You know, IFs in Sims 3 are kind of like tulpas, or at least the creepy pasta. ^.^;
They're finally making a University? It's about damned time! If my game wasn't a compy crasher, I'd send my twins and Maynard (the IF) to collage.
Eh, IFs get better once you make them real. Maynard has the lucky trait, he's a bookworm and a hopeless romantic.
So far Nightlife's my favourite Sims 2 EP. I like being able to go out shopping or on a date without rabbit holes. ^.^;
Exams went well, I failed lit (but no biggy since I was taking it for fun. I already have World Lit under my belt for my degree), but I made a B in social psych.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of people were having issues with the sims 3 lagged or freezes or blue-screening. I'm thinking maybe the requirements are different or they want to adjust their computers better or something, but meh.~

Yeah, finally its been made and university for the sims 3 is out! It's actually really awesome, better than i thought it'd be for the most part! I'm a little disappointed since it works like Adventures though, but it was definitely a really fun time in their lives for my little simmies. (:

Well, I did have to alter Maynard's traits with cheats. He never gets caught pulling pranks.
I just liked the idea of setting my Sims up on dates myself and giving them places to go and things to do...a;tough vampires don't hurt. I have a "Vampires Function During Day" hack, which kind of turns them into servos since they love working.
Well, World covers literature from pretty much anywhere that isn't the "New World"

Raven's just socially awkward since as a "mongrel" his kind are normally looked down on and yet feared at the same time because of their abilities (either watch the movie or read "The Shadmock" by R. Chetwynd-Hayes to fully understand this). Also, please don't be offended when I say this since it's not directed at you at all, but I'm also a bit wary of who his friends are because a ridiculous amount of fangirls bombarded me with "Plz let him b mah Ocs bf" requests when i first made him, even though (as far as my original story and Sims 2 canon), Raven get a boyfriend. ^.^;
