Description
As beautiful as it is that red sky is the achilles heel of digital sensors and I'm not lying when I tell you that I'm scared of them. They have amazing potentail, but are so hard to capture properly. The 24-105mm I was using here didn't exactly help either.all rights reserved. this may not be used or reproduced in any way.

the depth of the color and dimension makes this a very fine image

This is a great shot. The composition is wonderful, it has a certain symmetry between the red in the sky and the cliff

108 favs in 3 hrs huh. Someone is popular around here
You made a similar comment about the color and sensors on FM. See you had your had at your own recently. I find turning down the luminance/brightness on the red channel a tad helps control the detail. Fun shot but feels empty

Really nice shot. I just feel that you cut the sky a little to much. I know you don't usually do panoramas but I think that it might have been a nice idea here.

The warm and cold colors together in this scene, give the photo a really nice atmosphere

Have you tried the "shooting to the Right " Protocol? And does it work?

Shooting to the right is an excellent technique, but you have to no when to stop. As Hougaard said it wont work sometimes and it also depends on how you make your shot. Even if this was a three image blend. I personally would make the base image perfect with exposing to the right. But that's just me.

I think with digital the only really way to cope with this range of light is to use multiple shots combined.
