This is my friend Jennifer's Little Yorkshire Terrier, Jason.He's her pride and joy, and so ... She commisioned me to paint him for her. She also commented on the rough sketch that I drew on the canvas as a guide to paint him. Below is what she said.
( I have to tell you that your sketch looks much better than the original photograph ! You have managed to capture his personality, even the way he was wanting so badly to eat the flowers ! (later he did) lol Can't wait to see this finished and hang it in a place of honor in my house. Many many thanks from me, Jason and...warning, Kristofer and Chestnut are next ! )
After reading it I was going to title the painting Jason Versus the Geraniums ... But he hadn't started his war against them as of yet, so I changed it to Jason and the Geraniums.
This is a digital photo of the finished piece. I'll scan the painting in a few days and change it to the clearer image ... I also will upload a photo of it in the frame I'll get for it.
I hope Jen likes it.

You're welcome. I think what I love is the immediacy of it. The bright geraniums and the light and the rich colors, not only is Jason so real but it feels as if I was right there, as if I could touch him.

FROM JEN : Houly, I more than love this, it really touches my heart. You have given life to this painting, his personality and soul shines through. He even looks sweet and you know what a little brat he can be..hehe. I've collected Yorkshire Terrier art since I was a child and nothing I own, or ever saw, compares to this painting. All of your art that I have seen is beautiful, but this is my very favorite one. Wonder why ?? Thank you SOOOOOO much, luv ya Houly !

I bought the frame for it on Sunday. I'm glad I brought the painting in with me. I'd have never chosen the frame I did without it. It's really important to me to get a frame to compliment the painting and I think it does it very well.
I'll try to get you a picture of it framed before I box it up. I secured the painting in it and put a wire on the back. You merely need a nail in the wall and you're all set.

I shaved an actual dog that I caught running down the street and shaved his ass bald ... then with my trusty gluestick I stuck it on ... Voila !!!

The first word that came to my mind was: ADORABLE!! What a cutie he is. i have to tell you though, if i were a dog, i would have it out for geraniums, too!! i hate them smelly ole things!!
