Description
The very handsome black phase timber wolf, Seneca, from The Wolf Mountain Nature Center in Smyrna, NY. The center is literally on top of a small mountain and is very hard to get to in the winter. However, the wolves are so much more intense and excited when the snow falls which always makes it worth it.While wolves as a species have always been misunderstood and persecuted, black wolves have faced even more extreme legends, including the belief that they were evil spirits or that they dug up graves to eat the bodies (which is clearly untrue).

wow... I love the way his fur stands out against the snow.
I can see how wolves were misunderstood... People are more likely to lash out against things they fear. This picture demonstrates the silent power that would have frightened people who didn't understand them.

Yeah, I agree with that. They're such beautiful animals but instead of respecting their power and being in awe, people hunt and eliminate them.
