The clinging and clanging of food preparation conjoined with the rustling of the autumn leaves. The cold autumn air warmed up from the delicious warmth of Thanksgiving food moseyed out the open window and onto the porch that sat Giuseppe and his friend's family. He smiled as the warm feeling of being around a loving family and soon-to-be feast brought joy to his life, filling him with excitement and a sense of belonging. Rubbing his fingers against the bronze necklace, Giuseppe engaged in small talk with the sister, who complimented him on his outfit and appearance.

Giuseppe had been alone for Thanksgiving for years now since his family moved away and cut contact with him. Despite the festive feel, Giuseppe treated Thanksgiving like any other day. This year, his friend asked the reluctant Giuseppe to join him for his family’s dinner but insisted he come as a date. The family had been asking about the friend, now ex-girlfriend, and the friend didn’t want to disappoint the family. So, he figured if Giuseppe were to wear a magical amulet, Giuseppe could get some food and help out a friend. Giuseppe didn’t care either way, so he dawned the bronze necklace, which, under the instruction to take a deep breath and close his eyes, transformed him into a beautiful younger woman. The whole ride there, the friend coached Giuseppe, whose name would be Grace, for dinner, about important information about their extinct relationship and family members. Giuseppe retained none of that information, electing to stare out the window as his heartbeat rapidly, oddly looking forward to seeing what it meant to be around the dinner table for Thanksgiving. Once there, they opened the door, greeted by a big hug from the mother, who welcomed Giuseppe in, and as he stepped inside, the family erupted into greetings. Giuseppe felt warm, welcomed, and loved despite his false feminine appearance, but that was the last thing on his mind.
