I think if you're trying to render a battle like this, it's like composing a movie poster - so there will be lots of choreographed chaos. You did a good job -- I'm not sure if there is only one 'right' answer for a design problem like this. Hmm... unless maybe a general pulled-back battle scene with inset close-ups of the antagonists? That might work too, like the first Indiana Jones poster?
