Name:
Ent
Meaning:
Shortened from the name Imentet, an ancient Egyptian goddess.
From Wikipedia
Imentet was a goddess in Ancient Egyptian religion representing the necropolises west of the Nile. She was the consort of Aqen, a god who guided Ra through parts of the underworld. Although she was never officially worshipped, she was mentioned in various hymns and passages of the Book of the Dead. As goddess of the deceased, she lived in a tree looking out at the entrance to the Duat (Underworld). Her main job, other than being a minor fertility goddess, was to offer food and drink to the newly dead, which would restore their spirits enough to travel to the "field of reeds" which was essentially paradise in Ancient Egyptian religion, however, she was so closely linked with Hathor and Isis in their afterlife roles that she may be less an independent deity than an alternate form of those two goddesses.Though she might have been considered the daughter of Hathor and Horus.

Appearance:
There is creeping vitiligo all around her body, spreading as she ages. Her paw pads share the dappled feature of her nose, only where there is vitiligo present.
In response to leaving the desert, her fur has become thicker. She's fluffier around the head, base of neck, and chest. This has actually been how she was originally supposed to look had she not been raised in the desert, but now that she's out of the hot lands her fur grew.

Backstory:
There was a leopardess who lured away a leopard in the late hours of the night after a short courtship. The two parted ways very shortly afterward, the leopard going back to tending to his daughter and the leopardess continuing on with her travels. She did not wander far, as water was in high demand and found in few places and soon realized she’d fallen to a fatal disease- pregnancy. The female carried her burden around until she birthed the cub, all the while trying to come to terms with finding some sort of love for the life she carried inside her. The fact of that was, there was none. The leopardess had a hard enough time providing for herself under the hot african sun, she doubted she could maintain a child.
The child was born sharing the same condition she had, a pelt dark as leopard rosettes. Impossible to keep them both alive. The leopardess marked her as a burden and an inefficient expenditure of resources, deciding to leave the cub. She did something she deemed kind and waited for the child to be weaned.
The black leopardess chose a spot knowing one of three things would happen: the child would die from exposure, the nearby pride would kill it, or they would take it in. The nameless cub was left under a tree in a small patch of plantlike growing in it’s shade, and the mother leopard left.
Come daytime, the young cub was mewling, vultures were starting to circle. A lioness on a walk by the name of Zesi found her. At first the lioness was curious, a cub left by itself? She sat with the child who calmed after her presence was noted and waited for the mother to come back. No one showed up, and the desert was getting hotter by the hour. Zesi took the cub back to the pride to receive the Chief’s opinion on the matter.
Chief Sokar was hesitant, questioning Zesi on where she was found, where her parents were, and if she had any Sizani scent to her. He had the cub checked by the Shamans and when she was deemed to be healthy, he was still hesitant. Her pelt was dark, a curse for one who dwelled in the desert. Yet upon further inspection he realized there were white patches on the cub, vitiligo. It was deemed to be a sign of the cub’s worthiness to be taken in and asked Zesi if she was willing to raise her.
Zesi was hesitant, having never raised a cub before, but ultimately accepted.
As the cub, now named Ent, grew her white patches spread. For her own safety she wasn’t allowed for long out during the day time and has only recently started leaving the territory on her own at night. She shows promise as a sentry and has just begun her training as a warrior’s shadow. As a shadow she befriended a rogue by the name of Koso. Throughout her training she maintained the friendship by sneaking out to visit him at a place they dubbed Kiojah's cactus, named after a leopon who she'd ran into at the watering hole. Kiojah left a sour taste in her mouth and the prickly cactus seemed like a good way to make fun of her, though Ent grew fond of the cactus.
When the sandstorm hit, the shadow fell ill with dust pneumonia. It was thought she would not survive, but after an almost comatose sickness the leopard pulled through. She resumed her training, refraining from leaving the pride territory for months after the storm.
Her hard work and focus earned her warrior ceremony.
Soon after, Ent befriended a Sizani lipard named Jaro when she was out patrolling. Given her sense of smell was off after the sickness, as was his, they both thought they were on their own territory outskirts and refused to leave first. With another minor dust storm in the distance, the two took shelter and actually became friends.
After, the warrior remained focused.
However, during an outing with her former mentor and mother they come across Koso trying to enter the territory. Ent, filled with great emotion and a sense of protectiveness, defies her pride and stands by his side. She asks for him to join, of which leads to a meeting with Sokar.
She leaves the pride soon after to spend her days with Koso on their own.
