Oaken pelt, light tan muzzle and cheeks as well as underbelly and back toes, dewy green eyes, dual tone tail tuft, multiple scars and a snaggle tooth from her rough past, maintains her light cub spots on her front paws.

The link above describes events which led up to her ‘death’, though as the entry focuses on Mbele and her point of view on what happens it is not entirely correct in what happens after, nor does it explain how Castus came to be. Castus was the product of two lions who agreed it better to start a family early before they would have no chance whatsoever, as Mbele was betrothed and once she was to be married, that sliver of happiness would be no more. It was a thought out decision, not an accident even though many might spread a rumor that it had been. The cub spent the first few weeks of her life with her mother in a secluded den, her father Altyd visiting when he could get away from his responsibilities. Eventually Mbele had to leave and for a time the cub would spend many hours alone, playing as long as she stayed safe. Mbele spent the nights with her child, and Altyd took over in the morning. When the cub could digest meat comfortably she was taken to her father’s pride where he described an night with a wanderer in order to help secure the next generation for the pride. As he was a loyal and respectable lion not many questioned and often enjoyed the company of the sweet cub. The prince of this pride took note of Altyd and Castus’ frequent disappearances and followed one time, discovering that they had been meeting up with Mbele. As depicted in the journal, Katili was merciless in order to punish Mbele for her disobedience of the law. However, there was such a turmoil about that it was when Kumshinda ordered a lioness to dispose of the cub’s body was it discovered that she was alive, though just barely. This kind lioness took in the young cub and tended to her wounds under mercy, not wanting the child to suffer, but it was by some miracle that Castus did indeed begin to fight for her life and recovered almost fully. As the lioness could not return to Castus her father without the threat of death nor dwell in Kumshinda’s pride under the same terms, the female helped the young cub make the long journey north to search for Mbele, whereupon they finally reached the south.
