So Eclipse is ComingSEE MY LATEST JOURNAL ON THIS HERE:

I'd like to organize a proactive event to show DA the possible results of a permanent Eclipse change-over. Instead of deactivating your accounts for good, or indefinitely boycotting the site, I'd like to make a Statement of Silence for those Users against Eclipse. Starting May 1st, I will not be active on Deviantart. I will not submit new deviations, journals or even visit the site for 3 Days time. From 12:00AM CST May 1st to 12:00am May 4th. (3 days) I ask all other Users who wish to keep old Deviantart to join me in this statement of silence.

Not Only Is Eclipse Difficult to Navigate, It is so close to Plagiarism it isnt funny. How they aren't in a Lawsuit with Artstation is beyond me!
Look at these site comparisons!

  <- DA Eclipse  Artstation->

Comparisons Courtesy of V0IDSPACER
Now I'd like to point out several people have told me that the similarities may be due to the fact artstation and DA are both now owned by Wix.
I honestly would need to do some research to see if this is true or just speculation.

Update
ArtStation is NOT owned by Wix as some of our sleuthy commenters have discovered!

it is owned owned by a company called Ballistiq but is run as its own entity.

  www.artstation.com/about/compa…
"ArtStation is proud to be independently run. With no external investment, we grew our business from humble beginnings to one of the largest websites on the Internet. Being independent keeps us close and accountable to the community that we serve."
This was just confirmed to me by a current employee of theirs. ^^

Even DA's New Logo has Been Questioned as Plagiarism:

Perhaps the abrupt halt and slow down of site traffic will show DA team members the devastating effects this could have on their audiences they cater to. They have failed to listen when we speak out... perhaps they will listen to The Sound Of Silence.

Please Feel free to share this journal to get on board and spread the word.
Some have said this is getting attention elsewhere as well so feel free to share to your instagrams, twitters and so on as well.

Lets get it out to as many eyes and artists as possible!

Also, please no negative commentary. This is about supporting one another. Not Being malicious to DA or other users

The Sound of Silence - Core Refund Tickets?Hello there! Creator of #TheSoundofSilenceMovement here.a fellow DA User noted me :iconrandomchiz: with another intriguing idea.  That users send in support tickets asking for refunds on their Core. Now I know the majority of you will probably cut out core if you end up leaving indefinitely or even if you stay, since all them pretty perks are no longer available. And I highly doubt that DA will actually Refund anyone. However perhaps the flood of refund requests might make a statement as to the loss of their revenue in that regard. The double-edge of this blade however, is that they /may/ decide to refund us, and we will be cut off our cor...

I did participate and while I don't honestly see this 100% changing dA's minds, they may considering "patching" eclipse more to our liking if they know fans are not completely happy with it. Besides, this was a good way to give me a break off the site, so I am grateful for the suggestion nonetheless.

Three days have passed and I’m back!! Honestly even if this doesn’t change the DA staff’s course of action, it was a really nice break from DA and gave me an excuse to actually be a bit more active rather than scrolling through DA for like three hours every single day and mindlessly staring at my tablet screen. ^w^

While I might not like Eclipse, I have to admit it truly is a pointless protest. I mean, look how many comments this journal has, the number of people who complain each update, and the amount for people who have signed the (not legally binding) petition. Compare that to the amount of members the site has, it's doesn't even equal to 1% of the users. That and if you look at the activity tracker provided in the journal, the silence protest isn't all that silent. It's been 3 days in and the site is largely unaffected. Heck, I'm only just now discovering this protest is a thing.

True. It'll be especially harder on the people who are so reluctant to change that they've probably never switched to Eclipse. I started testing it out pretty early on and though the navigation is pretty inefficient, it becomes a little more natural after a some time.

Goku-san In reply to LPAki [2020-05-04 03:28:56 +0000 UTC]

I don't mind change. I just wish DA had done a better job. You're right. The navigation is inefficient and could use some tweaks to make it better. There's things about the layout that could use some work as well. They need to fix the compression of images to make them not look awful.

I also understand people being upset by having features they paid for being taken away. I understand the upset of feeling like no one was listened to. That feedback website was not widely advertised (I never saw anything about it until I saw people posting about it) so many people's feedback went unheard.

It feels like they're releasing a broken and unfinished site despite the several years they worked on it. :/

Tbf, the staff (or a member of the staff), have said they're aware of the comments and petitions. So while I don't think they flat out ignore every single thing we've been saying, some of the things they fail to address often comes off if they're ignoring them - or straight up shooting down suggestions (I'm looking at you, HTML coding). It also has a lot to do with the way they address people. For example, you see many times in change logs someone from the staff respond to a nice or positive comment, but not saying anything to the negative ones. And you can't really blame em, you attract more flies with honey than vinegar so sometimes the nastiness is overwhelming. However, I think it would have been beneficial for them to respond to the nasty comments by telling a person where they could send their feedback, while linking them to the correct place. Of course not with every comment, but with a few as to make it seem less like they're only responding to positive comments - and spreading the word about feedback forms. As for the feedback website, that's not entirely true. From the very first Eclipse announcement to now (with the exception of the 2 most recent change logs), they have always told us how to access the feedback form at the end of each journal, and sometimes even linked it. When the site started getting updated and the feedback form moved from google forms to Zendesk, they started telling us how to access it from Eclipse. It's only been recently where the link no longer goes to the feedback form - likely since they've stopped using Zendesk - and instead the help desk. While I do think they should've continued giving out the correct, updated direct link to the feedback form, at some point the userbase has to be held accountable for their unwillingness to switch in order to give feedback, or the amount of people saying it's useless to do so (even if it comes off that way). Let's be honest, the users are nearly as responsible for spreading the feedback form as the staff are. You see how many more banned together to spread a petition that has no power over a something that puts them in direct contact with the site admins. It's not that hard for members to pick up the slack and start pushing for people to send feedback directly, given how quickly they coordinated this. Even when people are commenting the petition link, they're willfully not spreading the word of the feedback site. Not even the petition author linked the feedback form in the petition description (which would've give it more exposure), and the author of this journal could've taken it more seriously rather than saying "and for those of you wanting to give Eclipse your feedback (hah!)." So while I do think the staff should've done a better job at pushing the feedback forms, they're not entirely at fault.

Also yeah Eclipse feels broken. I'd say that's one of things that makes me a little disappointed in the staff. I assume they don't have as much staff as bigger sites, but there has to be at least one or two+ people testing the functionality of certain features I do understand that everyone experiences site bugs differently, but some of the issues are just so glaring it's hard imagine no one else is experiencing it.

TL;DR - Staff has always pushed for people to send in feedback, but could've did a better job at it and addressing the community. That doesn't mean site members aren't just as responsible for spreading the word. The fact they've coordinated in the spread of this petition only proves they can also coordinate in the spread of the feedback site.

Goku-san In reply to LPAki [2020-05-04 07:34:12 +0000 UTC]

I think they should have linked that site outside of the change logs too. That's probably why a lot of people missed that link that was posted at the bottom of this journal. Not everyone follows change logs. But a site wide notification saying "Hey, we've moved our feedback form to this site" would have probably helped.

I do remember Core does give you the option to beta test new features on DA so it isn't just the staff that was testing things. So either there wasn't enough people doing this, not enough people reporting the problems, or people were really ignored. Who knows.

But I do think some tweaks need to be made and that some more bugs should be ironed before releasing Eclipse. The current state it's in seems a bit broken.

LPAki In reply to Goku-san [2020-05-04 09:55:27 +0000 UTC]

Of course, I wasn't meaning it to sound like they shouldn't have done more to advertise the feedback logs or let us know the location changed, I'm just saying they always told us it was there. While they could've moved the message at the top, as for people missing the "leave feedback" messages because they were at the bottom, or not checking the change logs, that's kinda on themselves tbh. Most, if not everyone, got the notifications.

I never saw that link in my notifications. But I also don't have Core. So I don't know if I simply overlooked it or because I'm not a beta tester because that's a Core only feature I didn't get the notifications at all. I literally just found out about that eclipsefeedback.com site when the uproar over Eclipse coming near the end of May started.

EDIT: I dug through the change logs and so far I don't see where they mention that website. It just says to click on your avatar and then the feedback link that's in the drop down menu. But going there doesn't take me to that site. It takes me to the help desk. So unless this was a recent change, I don't think they widely advertised that eclipsefeedback.com site.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LPAki In reply to Goku-san [2020-05-04 16:13:13 +0000 UTC]

Boy, we're having some severe miscommunication right now lol. First things first, when I said they linked it that was a mistake. I guess since it's been a while I'm just remembering wrong, though I'm sure at one point I was able to access the google form for Eclipse through one of their journals.

In terms of everything else:
-" I never saw that link in my notifications. But I also don't have Core..."
I didn't mean they sent out the feedback form via notifications, I meant they sent out notifications for the change logs that everyone, or most people, got. If people just skim through or just don't read/check the logs, at that point it's on them.

- "It just says to click on your avatar and then the feedback link that's in the drop down menu. But going there doesn't take me to that site." Yes, that's what I said. And that's what I meant when I said "they have always told us how to access the feedback form at the end of each journal" in the previous comment.

- "So unless this was a recent change"
Mentioned that too when I talked about their migration from Zendesk

They never widely advertised the site itself, just instructions on how to get there (when the link worked at the time). The site has always been there, or some form of it at least, but many people often expressed their reluctance to switch to Eclipse to access it (even when that one user who responds to everyone would tell em to send their comments via feedback)

Goku-san In reply to LPAki [2020-05-04 22:08:23 +0000 UTC]

The feedback link in Eclipse does not go to  www.eclipsefeedback.com/.  Yet this is the one being promoted that we're supposed to send feedback to. So which one are we supposed to send feedback to? Through the help desk which is what clicking on the "send feedback" takes you to in Eclipse or this website? See why people feel confused and possibly ignored since they don't mention they changed sites yet again for feedback?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LPAki In reply to Goku-san [2020-05-05 00:39:53 +0000 UTC]

Once again I mentioned this already, so I'll try to clarify.
The link DID work but stopped working as they began moving from Zendesk. Before that, the "send feedback" button in Eclipse actually went to the feedback form - which is why the journals still have and promoted the "click on icon, send feedback" thing. Is that clearer?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Goku-san In reply to LPAki [2020-05-05 03:51:15 +0000 UTC]

I'm not referring to Zendesk. I'm referring to that site called eclipsefeedback.com (registered in 2019, expires in 2021) which is listed on this journal but currently is not linked when you go to the link in the drop down menu on Eclipse. That feedback site still works. I literally just sent something through it.

But on Eclipse it's not linked where the change logs are referring to.

It goes to deviantartsupport instead.

So which place is DA wanting us to use that will be most likely be read from now on? Deviantartsupport or eclipsefeedback? Or both?  If we're not supposed to use this site because it's no longer being used for feedback, it's a bit misleading for people to be linking it and telling people to send stuff to it if it's not going to be read. That's why I'm asking.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LPAki In reply to Goku-san [2020-05-05 04:30:33 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it's not correctly linked anymore. Yes, it goes to the support desk now instead. What I'm saying is that the "send feedback" link under the avatar used to go directly to the feedback form that people are linking, but now it doesn't. However, that's still the form as you'll see when you go through "New DeviantArt" in the help desk. Basically I'm saying the form moved when the help desk stopped using Zendesk, which is why I kept mentioning it.
