Toothless loves you! This is the third of five dragons for a customer's 5th anniversary/Christmas. He requested Toothless in his alpha form, offering a red crystal heart.

Haha, my first Toothless but not really. I actually made a Toothless about a year ago, but I never got pictures of him before he found a new home. I was unsatisfied with the result at the time, because Toothless just doesn't look right without his giant, saucer-shaped eyes. So when I was talking over sculpture ideas with my client, I jumped at the chance to make another Toothless because now I have the right sort of eyes to make that happen. The client requested Toothless's alpha form and for the spikes to be translucent - otherwise, I would have kept the spikes black and just dusted everything with blue mica powder. I really had to hold myself back from going off and adding more and more detail. Every time I looked at my reference images, I kept finding more little things that I could add. xD

I am pretty satisfied with how this turned out. I tried to keep the pose playful and cat-like, though I wasn't able to push that as far as I'd have liked due to the challenges of getting everything to balance. I think the green glass eyes are a really good fit for this figure, though I still need to work on positioning. My favorite part is probably the horns/ears - I find their shape particularly pleasing.

Crafted from colored Premo polymer clay, hand-painted glass eyes, Swarovski crystal elements, and Jacquard Pearl-Ex mica powders. This was a commission, so Toothless already has a home.
