This is going to be my first critique, so it might not be the best, but here goes. First off, I think you gave a clear detail about the story. You showed Rarity's thoughts both before and after the flashback, and really outlined how they changed. You showed all of the memories that were "put into" the necklace, and really put why it was important.

I like the story a lot. It was cute and sweet, and really told the story of their sisterly bond in a single comic strip. But, I feel that the "Memories are the best treasures" was sort of cliche (I still loved it, though!).

As for the technique, it was amazing. I love your soft, smooth style of drawing, but still making it look graceful and not just sloppy. The art for this comic was simply beautiful.

Finally, the impact was great. You showed that material goods were not the only thing that mattered, even to a fashion-forward mare like Rarity. You managed to tell the tale of Sweetie Belle's sisterly bond with Rarity, and did it in a well-drawn and cute style. You showcased the very meaning of being sisters in one comic strip.

Overall, this comic strip may be one of the sweetest Sweetie-Belle and Rarity comics I think I've ever seen. You even added some anime-style comedy to it that gets some points from me. This comic was neatly and wonderfully done, and I greatly admire it!

This was the most cutest thing i have EVER seen! Surely there is much more cute things but this...This is better then 2 kittens playing with a string! If there is a sequel draw them in the bath while they are talking about the things they did. It would also be very cute if you made them hug in the final page. But your technique on your comics if ALOT better then mine..Will you be nice enough to show me how to draw like that? I always try to made my drawing good but it never really works xD I would like to write more but all i can say is CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTEEEEE

Thank you for sharing your thought with me. Your rating flattered me~

However, I can't help but notice this was not an art critique, it is more like a comment. Therefore, I'm going to rate it as unfair.

About the part of how to draw. Well, I could show but I don't think that skill is not something that could be gained by simply watching. If you do wish to improve, maybe keep on practicing and uploading your works could be more helpful. As you can see in my gallery, compare to two years ago, my works did improve a lot. Therefore I personally think you could start by uploading your works. If you really hope to learn, find a teacher would be even better.

I'm not much of an artist, but I have friends who are and I love looking at their work. I will try my best to critique this. Also, I just only became a brony not to long ago, but I am caught up in the show, so I am familiar with everyone.

When I first seen this, I could not really find a thing I disliked about it. The story of the whole thing was amazing and it was really cute. Both of their personalities seemed a little tweeked to me, but I barely see it. It still sounds like them. Second the way it is drawn and colored is great. It has an anime feel which I love. Some of the color is plain, but I think that is what adds to the overall cuteness to this piece. I really love the color in Rarity's hair.

All and all, I love it. I have seen someone dub this comic on youtube and I enjoyed it. Keep making amazing comics.

Thank you very much for your critique.

However, I couldn't help but notice that what you wrote doesn't seems to be sufficient as an art critique. Art critique need a little more objective and constructive analysis before expressing personal feeling and inspiration, and What you wrote seems only focus on the latter. Therefore I'm going to rate this as unfair.

It's okay. I'm aware that you mentioned that you're inexperienced in doing critique. I wasn't trying to frustrate you. It's just that if I rate this as fair, it would be unfair for those who wrote the similar critique and be declined by me. Practice makes perfect. Maybe next time you could do better.

before i say anything i have to admit that i am not familiar with any of you other work. that being said, i am pleased with what i see and look forward to viewing your other works. now on to the critique:

vision: you have a very clear and obvious topic for the strip and present it an a very appealing way. simply put, it was very well done.

originality: as stated before in other critiques the relationship between Sweetie Bell and Rarity has been done before and in a variety of ways. However I find that when critiquing originality you cant deduct points for the sole fact that the topic has been done before. You have to look at each piece individually and rate them for what they are within that topic. That being said, I find that the method you took at displaying Rarity's feelings for Sweetie Bell was, in fact, a unique and very enjoyable method.

Technique: your style of art is one of the first things that drew me to this comic in the first place. you a very simple, yet refined art style that myself and others find very enjoyable. i cant find 1 panel that i thought could have been done better. your use of flashbacks to emphasize the importance of the necklace helps us to understand Rarity's feelings better and help us to get a better understanding of their relationship as a whole.

impact: this comic is meant to pull on the feelings of the reader and that's exactly what it does. the dialog along with your truly adorable art style guide the reader to feel exactly what you want them to.

overall: this comic was a very enjoyable read and i will defiantly look at your other artwork and hope to see you improve even farther (if that's even possible a.deviantart.net/avatars/f/l/f… " alt=" " title="fluttershyyayplz" />)

Forgot the freaking 100 word minimum, I want to type all of my feelings to this wonderful art piece.

This is like what happened in one of the episodis, but maybe a bit more better. Still, this little comic captures probably everybody's hearts. It starts out smooth and ends with a beautiful finish.

bby, did you practice? It would've taken me years to do such a fab idea, not to mention your rating styles. Your art skills are amazing, and you pictured these two sisters' personalities perfectly, of course with Rarity being the financial freak.

Sweetie Been is as cute and demanding as ever, and I really appreciate this. These art pieces are just if the things that make my life feel a bit better. It makes me happier in seeing these sisters having a special moment between each other, erasing the current gaps that keeps them separate.

I never noticed I past the minimum xD; whatsoever, this is truly wonderful and heartwarming.

Before I begin, let me start by saying I probably have a bit of bias here as Rarity and Sweetie Belle's character interactions and relationship are probably some of my favorite parts of Friendship is Magic in the grand scheme of things. Sisterhooves Social is my favorite episode, and my favorite parts of Sleepless in Ponyville were the short bits of characterization for Rarity and Sweetie Belle.

that being said, I absolutely ADORE your very soft Anime inspired style. From the smooth, brown inks to the way you do eyes, it all looks adorable, and at the same time sort-of retains that show-accurate flat colored look without it looking unnatural or lazy. I especially love the airbrushed border on the memories to make them feel ever so slightly haze-y.

Exploring more of the businesswoman in Rarity is also a fascinating move I approve of. I've seen some pieces of fan literature that depict Rarity as a spendthrift between her own vanity and her status as the Element of Generosity. I cannot completley buy this, as while those are true, she also maintains a seemingly highly successful business and cuts the cost out of having to buy precious stones for her dresses by going out and finding some on her own!

Sweetie Belle's air headed innocence is something that IS very believable if she's willing to just casually use Rarity's most precious materials for her little DIY projects, and she's shown gullible levels of trust if she's still buying into Rainbow Dash/Applebloom's method of "Try everything until something works" method of cutie mark acquisition.

On the overall, the story is absolutely adorable, and the art style is simple and bright enough to feel like it fits the story being told. That being said, there is room to improve! While the backgrounds for this mirror the simplistic anime pony style you have going on, I can't help but feel that a bit more work could have gone into attempting to replicate the look of the Carousel Boutique's look from the show, and that you really did not have too much of an idea of what you wanted when you started doing the flashbacks to the carnival/theme park.

Thank you very much for your critique.

I cannot deny that the backgrounds are roughly made. I often found that drawing background is very difficult. Therefore I often fulfill them with simple color which implicate the mood of the character or context. In other words, one reason to do so is to express the emotion. However, the other reason is laziness and there's no explanation to it. Guess I will need to practice drawing background in the future.

Ok, I just want to startb y saying D'aawwwwww. This is probably one of the SWEETEST Sweetie and Rarity comics I have seen. I am literally in happy tears. (but then again, I am super sappy and cry at stuff like this a lot) The message of hoe much Rarity truly loves Sweetie and about how such a little trinket can hold such fond memories for anyone is perfectly portrayed. This is a very original piece and the impact is phenominal. I wish there was more touching and heart warming art out there that was like this. So, again, this is a fantastic comic, and it will be something I hold in my own "My Precious" box. ^u^

Thank you for your critique. I’m flattered by such a high rating and I'm very glad you like my work.

However, I couldn’t help but notice that what you wrote isn’t technically an art critique, instead more like a comment. I happened to learn a few things about art critique this semester. The professor told me that to do a critique. One should do an objective analysis before express personal opinion. In objective analysis, you can describe the coloring, shading, toning, painting style, what do the artist draw and how do the artist manage the composition. In personal opinion, you can express your interpretation of this work. What do you think the artist was trying to say, why you like or hate this work...etc.

Therefore, I'm going to rate it as unfair. Although I rate your critique unfair, I am still grateful for your appreciation. And I hope what I wrote above could be of help next time. Thank you again and have a nice day.

I don't really like My Little Pony, but this really stands out from the crowd. A comic strip that has been made in the style of My Little Pony. Never seen one of those in years!

The reason the Originality is a bit low is that My Little Pony is greatly used these days. But I really envy you and this should deserve an award.

I shared this with one of my friends, which happens to be a brony and he said "If I were to put a mark on a scale out of 0 to 10 (10 being the best and 0 being the worst), this would be an 11." I shared this with a non-brony friend and even he liked it.

Overall, I hope that you make more artwork like this in the future!

This is a beautiful comic. The art, the message, the presentation, just wow. I read it three times because it was so good and so cute. This shows the relationship between Rarity and Sweetie Belle so well and it is so cute and so heartfelt.

The comedy between the two is also very well done. Sweetie Belle's nativity and Rarity's common sense play perfectly along each other and it seems like something that could happen in the show. Almost a full five stars all around. The only thing is the originality. This has been done before in the show so it's not exactly original. But take my originality rating with a grain of salt (or no salt at all) because I could care less if something is unoriginal so long as it's good and by God is this good.

Eh, that's fine. To be honest, I don't consider myself much of a good critic with anything. Whether it be a film, an art piece, a video game, etc, my opinion basically comes down to "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" subjectively. Not only that, but I don't consider myself very artistic either. In fact, I just barely learned how to just draw ponies and still have no idea how to shade, use different hues of color for lighting, or any other form of adding detail to a picture so I can understand your point.

And while the decision makes me sad, I respect it and understand why you made the decision. Plus, you told me flat out what your reasons were rather than leaving it as "nonconstructive" in the rejection message, so I thank for shedding some light on the subject.

This was one of the most beautiful and cutest things I have ever seen in my participation of DeviantART. The flash back was adorable, especially with Sweetie Belle wanting to see the dolphins. But in the 5th frame Rarity did not have her cutie mark. I don't blame you, everyone forgets and makes mistakes. And the little chest, I think it should of been a little bit more of fancy and jeweled up. And Rarity's fake lashes, what about the bottom parts? But overall, this was very nice, and is almost a perfect critique. I hope you find this fair, since this is my very first critique.

But still, you did provide some constructive advice like Rarity's cutie mark, the bottom parts of the eye lashes and the style of the little box. I thank you for that. The cutie mark was my mistake, I've fixed that. Thanks for reminding me. As for the bottom parts of the eye lashes, well, my style of drawing eyes often skip the bottom part. I think it would make the characters look more innocent. Guess next time I can try to not skip them. As for the box, I did thought of drawing it in a fancy style, but later I adapt the rough and undecorated box. The reason is that I was trying to imply the box is her unsophisticated heart. I felt that if I draw the box with decoration, the box would be too pretty to symbolize Rarity's deepest and purest soul. I believe for the people who know what the true value are, the most beautiful things are something that cannot been seen. Therefore I think only by using the simplest box could the comic tally with my ideas and believes.

Although I rate your critique unfair, I am still grateful for your appreciation. Thank you again and have a nice day.

First I have to start with the art itself, Very well done, it may be that this is the first time I’ve seen a pony style art like this but the detail is beautiful and placed so perfectly, it kinda makes me think of a cross between MLP and Anime.

Now the story/emotion: I’ve seen this kind of story before, but it never ceases to touch my heart, it falls along the lines of "it isn't the destination that matters but the trip itself." a beautiful story and a great way to show the bond that Rarity and SweetieBell share. and just a little addition, I love how you placed in it that Zecora was involved in selling the trinket to them... kinda makes you think, maybe she was right and it IS the most valuable souvenir in the shop.

I do like your description though. And I can safely tell that I did using anime style to draw the comic. As for the clerk, what you wrote is exactly the message I'm trying to imply. Although I didn't say the clerk is Zecora since I believe there must be other zebra living in Equestria, I do think that they are like some kind of wise hermits who understand what true valuable things really are. As always, your work is almost painfully adorable. Your style lends itself very well to ponies, and they're an absolute pleasure to look at when you draw them. I'm very glad I discovered your work!

Vision: Your intent for the strip is clear as always, and well executed. Errors in English are a little jarring, and can pull the reader out, but we all know English isn't your first language, and you continue to improve here with each strip. Nothing is ever so troublesome that the reader can't easily figure out what you mean, and the art does a great job of supporting the text, so any issues with English are more a matter of "you're doing well, keep working on it" rather than actual problems.

Originality: The sisterly love between Rarity and Sweetie Belle is done very often, and in tons of different ways, so I can't give the highest score for originality, but the way you handled it was well done. The necklace feels inspired by Sweetie Belle's drawing from Sisterhooves Social. While that's not a new idea (Rarity failing to see the value of her sister's gift), you did a wonderful job supporting the value of the necklace with memories from the theme park. This isn't your most original work, but I certainly wouldn't call it derivative, either.

Technique: As always, your style is adorable. It's simple, but it's well refined and executed. Bearing in mind your style, there's not a single panel where I would say, "Oops, he could've drawn this better..." I'd be very interested to see you try a more detailed style one day, perhaps a variation on your normal style, but I do absolutely love the way you draw ponies just the way it is--I still have Sombra's secretary printed out and hanging next to my computer!

Impact: Your impact is always high, and this is no exception. Sweetie Belle's exuberance, Rarity's fussy personality, and in the end, Rarity's love for her sister, all shine through beautifully. This isn't your most impactful strip--that title still goes to your amazing Mother's Day strip featuring Fluttershy--but this is very touching, and won't soon be forgotten.

On a final note, you draw the absolute most adorable Sweetie Belle!

Thank you very much for the critique.

I must admit that my drawing is rather amateur and I am very aware of that. Since I know I can't perform excellently in esthetic aspect, I therefore focused more on story telling. I hope my works could hold something that larger than the drawing itself; I hope they could be meaningful or even inspiring for me as well as the viewers. From the rating you gave me, I'm glad that my working wasn't in vain.

I did think about doing detailed style, but I guess I will probably do so on painting instead of comic. I insist on making colored comics since I believe that colors holds messages that are too great to ignore. However it makes the process of making comic longer and more tiring. If I found a better way to deal with this issues, I would definitely use it to enhance the quality of the comics. But before that, I think I will still draw simpler style and focused more on the story.

Thank you again for your critique. Also I'm very glad you like the little gift I gave you. Maybe someday I could paint her in detail.

I don't actually consider your drawing style amateur at all. It's certainly simple, but that's not the same thing. I honestly consider your style very well refined.

I agree with you about colors being important. Lines and some shading may tell a story adequately, but they can't convey the same range of sentiments that color can.

Whether you try increasing detail or continue only in your current style, your art is worthwhile and has merit. Thank you for continuing to show it to us.

I give this piece a full five stars. I have never seen anything like it. It shows a precious relationship between two sisters, Sweetie Belle and Rarity, on a vacation (or coming home from a vacation). Rarity is fatigued because of running around a theme park, and is given a necklace by her little sister. It reminds her of her adventures with Sweetie Belle. It reminds her of her love for her little sister. This comic really does tug at the heartstrings. I definitely added it to my favorites. Again, I also give this a full five stars. I thanks the artist for making such a great piece.

Thank you for your critique. I'm flattered by such a high rating and I'm very glad you like my work.

However, I couldn't help but notice that what you wrote isn't technically an art critique, instead more like a comment. An art critique would require an objective analysis before expressing personal opinion. Therefore I'm going to rate it as unfair.

Thank you again for your appreciation. Have a nice day.

I don't know who said that, but it works.

Stop making such adorable, touching, amazing comics. You drive me to procrastinate in class. (but don't actually stop, I will be sad)

1. This is adorable
2. By the time this comic was made, Rarity assisted in saving Equestria, like, four times. Doesn't that deserve a discount at the park?
