BIO
A skilled fighter and brilliant battle strategist, Ruby has fire powers with a twist to do with the feather in her hair. She commands her powers with a strength that makes it look easy, and wields it with a brutal proficiency. Her confidence shines on the battlefield as well as in her conduct. She never backs down from a challenge and isn't known for holding back. Still, she has too much respect for the game of fighting to play dirty and likely won't engage in combat with anyone that hasn't asked for it, unless she has a bone to pick with them. Note that entering a fighting tournament like, say, this one, counts as "asking for it."

Unlike Rex, Ruby approaches fighting as a sport. She loves the challenge. The opportunity to fight characters with powers beyond the limits of her own universe is the most exciting news she could have received.

ABILITIES
Ruby has integrated her fire powers into her fighting style, often hurling fireballs along with her punches. She is stronger than average and can hold her own in hand-to-hand combat against someone of equal caliber, but does not have superhuman strength.

Her fighting style is direct and straightforward as opposed to Rex's sneakier approach. She is extremely competitive and hates to lose, and enjoys commanding what she perceives is her rightful place as the center of attention. She will grow agitated if ignored. She talks a big game but she doesn't bluff - most people are wiser than to discount her threats to swallow them whole. Years of fighting other supers have given her exposure to a range of abilities and a keen eye, and while she packs a lot of power she's just as dangerous as a brilliant battle strategist given the chance to shine.

Ruby can take the form of a prehistoric phoenix. In this form she is approximately 12 feet tall and, despite being based on flightless raptors, she can fly. However, she can only fly short distances before becoming exhausted and requires a period of rest afterwards, so it isn't a great option for travel. To transform into it, her form is consumed by a great mass of fire, which spreads outwards and as it burns away the phoenix takes form.

Advantages of this form include fangs, claws, and it's size - the last of which is also one of its biggest disadvantages. While this form can run and fly quickly, it is bulky. She will struggle against smaller, more agile opponents and may not be able to use this form at all in tight, enclosed spaces.

Ruby's primary weakness is water. A small amount is fine, but total submersion (water, rainy days) will cause her to lose touch with her phoenix form as well as her powers for a short period of time.

RELATIONSHIPS
Ruby is well aware of hragon's status as her creator and after 15 years together the two get along like old friends. She wishes that hragon would lighten up, though. Ruby isn't one to be overly concerned about things that can't be helped, so she doesn't share hragon's concerns over the world's stability or lack of adherence to physical laws.

Ruby and Rex work together closely in the context of their story. Some would call them rivals, fewer would call them friends. She isn't exactly looking forward to learning to work with him again. The one thing that hasn't changed is the one thing that irritates her the most: his insistence, conscious of it or not, on holding back his power.
