Rex has a history of being a bit of a wanderer and it took some time, a few upgrades, and a trip to the modern day for him to find a story to call home. For some reason, he seems to have reverted back to his original, fantasy model. As a result, he has a collection of memories that seem broken. They're there - a collage of memories so disjointed it is as though they are from different lifetimes - but when he tries to remember they slip through his fingers. It's disturbing at best and, at the worst, distracting.

Rex can be fierce, delusional, and deeply misguided in the pursuit of his goals and anyone who knows him will attest that his worst enemy is himself. His determination can reach an unhealthy level that borders on obsession and has little room for any sense of self-preservation. Outwardly, he appears cool, calm, and collected but this could not be further from the case. If he loses his temper, he can easily become hragon's most terrifying character.

POWERS
Ruby's fighting experience has been for sport, but Rex has depended on it for survival. Unlike Ruby, who favors a more head-on approach, Rex's fighting style is quick, indirect, and sneaky. The more quickly a fight ends, the better his chances of survival.

He will rely heavily on his teleportation as a first tactic to surprise an opponent and confuse them about his location. His tactics can employ a psychological element that catches his enemies off guard. Rex has had success at using his abilities and his environment to get inside people's heads, and his ruthless nature can make it difficult to communicate with him. If he goes after someone, it is not because he is rising to a challenge as Ruby would be - it is in a manner that is focused and deliberate and persistent because he wants something. Even Ruby will admit that she is a friendlier opponent, fangs and all. Ruby will retaliate when angered, but she isn't great at holding grudges and won't take things as far as Rex might.

Rex is descended from a group of people that can tap into the fabric of this universe. His powers draw on dark energy and most often manifest to look like black or blood red lightning. He can bend this energy into force fields or utilize it for short-range teleportation, though it can become mentally taxing and he will tire out if he must use them frequently without rest.

Force fields: generally a few yards in diameter, although they can be larger if need be and even bigger if he reaches a point where his powers are no longer in his control. If he loses control, his energy fields can break down and lose form altogether. If this happens, they become waves of bolts and energy.
Teleportation: Rex will rely on teleportation more frequently than his other powers. It makes him difficult to locate and confuses the enemy. He must have a solid understanding of his location relative to his destination to make the leap. If he is distracted or in a position where his situational awareness is at risk it will either fail or backfire. If it succeeds, it appears as though he is deconstructed by a bolt of energy and reappears at a new location.
Energy spheres: Rex can condense his force fields into smaller, dense energy spheres that pack the same power into a small space. These can be used as ranged, offensive attacks.
Sword: Rex carries a sword imbued with a store of his energy. He can store it as energy indefinitely and summon it by quite literally pulling it out of thin air.

RELATIONSHIPS
Rex recognizes hragon but has not made the connection that she is his creator. He also can't quite place where he knows her from, but going along with her seems like the best chance he has to sort out his memories.

Ruby seems awfully personable and it makes him keep her at an even greater distance than most strangers. She keeps referring to him in a sense that is much too comfortable given they have never met, although it seems like there are some things she knows about him that he has not yet discovered himself. He cannot understand how she can embrace such potentially destructive powers so fully.
