Description
Well I had a rather invigorating conversation between myself and Mirel-Yirrin [link] I was satisfied with my arguments and his arguments.Especially in the way the arguments were presented and in the professional manner the topic was discussed. I've never taken debate but this makes me wish I had.
Also, note this was posted with Mirel-Yirrin's permission and has not been changed or modified in any way.
Thanks Mirel

That was interesting. It kind of reminds me of a few discussions I've had with my friends. But I would like to propose a different viewpoint: neither religion nor lack of religion are inherently dangerous, its the extremist mindset that does the damage. Islam teaches peace and kindness, until a fanatic comes along and teaches that Allah wants them to kill. Evolution is a scientific theory, until someone like Hitler takes it and uses it as an excuse for genocide. So it really isn't the concepts themselves, but what people decide to do with them.

What are we without faith? When the bottom falls out on our lives we have nothing left to stand on except a belief that there is still a greater force beyond our understanding and control... it's comforting to say the least... for I do not believe we can trust each other to pick us up from the bottom... or hold any expectation of the human race to advance beyond a certain point... nice debate Hrontore^^ i agree with you

I also enjoyed this conversation, nice to find someone who can present an argument in an adult manner.
