Yes it's been along time, two holidays moved house (new town as well) and a few other things. Life can really get in the way sometimes. Anyway Heroes came out with Gohan in the SSJ3 and SSJ4 form and I'm a huge fan of both. So I really wanted to have ago at making the SSJ4 version. I always say I hate making this form and I still stick with those words. Drawing the fur and getting it to look right is a massive challenge. Plus this time I went with a different style of fur, that was more close to the Heroes design. Mainly because it is a more fury version with added details that makes it look like you just did not just color a characters skin red.I could keep going on about this artwork but I will leave you with this instead. I still not a fan of SSJG or SSJGSSJ (man that's a bad name). Yes people have always hated alot on the SSJ4 form and I have too. It still looks nothing like the forms before it but you can't deny the fact it's creative andΒ unique in design. That does draw you back to the Great Ape form, which I like. These new Saiyan forms, are a joke. A skinny Saiyan form with red hair and a Super Saiyan form with blueish-green hairstyle. Seriously the series should have never come back, if this is what we ended up with. I could keep hating on a lot more about the new movies and series but I wont. I will finish saying Heroes and Dragon Ball Multiverse have done more for the series, then these resent movies and new Dragon BallΒ Super series have ever done to date. Ok I'm finished and I hope you enjoy my new artwork.

He sure is from Dragon Ball Heroes, that's what made me want to make my own version. Thanks very much mate, glad you like this. Well Dragon Ball Super won't have any Saiyans in the SSJ4 form, being that it's from GT and GT was not canon. Shame in someways though, because I quite like the form. Gohan as a Super Saiyan God Super SaiyanΒ on the other hand could be something we see down the track. But being just like GT, they have killed Gohan off as a fighter. No longer anything like his Teen days, Gohan would not have the time and training to master the Godly form.

You've done a really great job on this, i haven't been on DA a lot lately so sorry for my late input.
Despite your hate for creating the fur (which is completely understandable) you're improving every time.
I honestly love the SSJ4 transformation, sure it looks different than the other's but it still looks plausible and legit.
My gripe with the transformation that on some characters, like gohan for example, the hair looks off.
It looks like it's in two parts, though that's purely because of his base hairstyle making it extremely difficult to let it flow as one piece.
I just googled both goku and vegeta as SSJ4 and both their hair flow as one piece (vegeta's little less than goku's)
It doesn't look bad, it looks good actually.
Just is really difficult to make it look like its flowing together.
That's just my opinion really.
As for SSJG and that lame ass SSJGSSJ they are really terrible transformations and is just lazy as fuck.
They wanted to add new transformations and went with a half assed lazy method.
SSJ MS PAINT is what I called it.
I enjoyed Battle of Gods for the movie itself not the transformation, but I just couldn't bother with Resurrection of F or DB Super.
There are great examples of how a SSJG could have looked like (staying true to the original transformation) or even a golden version of SSJ4.
Β Hell Toriyama made a SSJ4 Drawing of Goku for GT so why the fuck couldn't they do something similar.

I'm happy you like the fur, it's something that has evolved noticeable in my art style and is a true representation of years of practice I guess.
I totally know what your saying about the hair too. Beside Goku and Vegeta, any fan made versions of other saiyans always look like the hair has been stuck on to a base image. Funny because that is what sometimes happens. I feel Goku in particular has a really good flow going on with his hairstyle and makes the form work quite well visually as a transformation. It been overall quite a good design, that I feel still fits in with the past transformations.Β
Have to say, it's awesome to read you agree about the new saiyan forms. They are just the worst to put it in to basic words. I swear over the year, I have seen people in fact use MS paint to create such hairstyles and the colors (blue in particular) I swear I have seen used before as well.
It's frustrating because you know they could have done better. I have even seen some great designs here on deviantart made by some really great artist on here. Feels like missed opportunities to have create something great. Plus what bugs me now is you see these new forms everywhere over the internet. Especially SSJGSSJ (SSJ Blue) because it is so easy, even for the most amateur of artist to edit the SSJ form to be this new so called transformation. And fans are just eating it up too.

Way to busy with gaming and forgetting about DA.
Since I stopped being an editor myself I lost track of it really.
I started my editing with a painting program and did the exact same thing.
I really despise seeing those transformations, hell every time I see it being submitted to the group I vote no.
There's no effort put to it whatsoever so screw that shit.
Yeah there are numerous great artists here on DA who created a way better version.
Why don't you try it yourself?

Every now and then I think of making my own version of a Super Saiyan. I like to think I could come up with something better them the last two forms we have been given.
Well said about the money side of things. There is still a huge fan base, so if they can keep getting dollars out of it, we will keep get the crap we have been recently given. I feel fans don't care what is, they just want something new. LikeΒ Assassin's Creed, they will keep buying the game as long as they keep releasing a new one each year.

Things like this make me think of what if Dragon Ball had an expanded universe filled with what ifs that were in the games. As far as I'm concerned they decided to expand Dragon Ball even more lately. You got Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z including the films, then you got Dragon Ball GT, but then you got Battle of Gods and Resurrection F both taking place after Kid Buu, you later have the pre Dragon Ball prequel stories of Bardock, and now you got the Dragon Ball Online/Dragon Ball Xenoverse storyline followed by Dragon Ball Super. And just like DC and Marvel they expand many things making it a multiverse, so why not with Dragon Ball? I know DBS will bring on different universes, but you got lots of what ifs storylines in games, especially in Dragon Ball Heroes with lots of what if forms. But all and all, this is a very fantastic art, makes me wanna hack Tenkaichi 3 and put this as Gohan SSJ4's official art work, seriously why haven't they contacted you for making game designs Β Β Β

Gohan looks prettyΒ cool as a Super Saiyan 4, they gave him the form in the Japanese arcade game Dragon Ball Heroes. Gohan's pose looks similar to a pic I saw of Goku (Super Saiyan 4), is it purely a coincidence or were you inspired by another pic?
