Description
As the sequel to Mothers in Media , here's a celebration of eight great fathers across all forms of media, and one many of us are thankful we don't have as our father. Once again, all are ranked from left to right.

Top row:
Mufasa (The Lion King) - An obvious choice. Throughout the first act, we see how much Mufasa cares for Simba, and his death in the stampede at the paws of Scar is absolutely heart wrenching. But at least Mufasa lives in those who knew him.

Jonathan Kent (Richard Donner's Superman) - Another father figure who died too soon. The last time he and Clark spoke, Jonathan assures him that he'd been given his powers for a reason, and collapsing shortly afterward makes this piece of advice even more poignant. Even though his time on screen is shortlived, it's obvious Pa Kent is a major influence on the Man of Steel himself as to why he does what he does. Definitely a better portrayal than the one given to us from Kevin Costner in 2013...

Homer Simpson (The Simpsons) - Is he a lazy idiot at his worst? Yes. But is he a loving husband and father to Marge and their three kids, even if one of them pisses him off on a regular basis? Also yes. We also can't forget his famous catchphrase, "D'oh!"

Middle row:
Uncle Ben Parker (Sam Raimi's Spider-Man) - Yes, he counts; much like Pa Kent, Ben gives Peter advice that sticks with him even after the elder figure's death - "With great power comes great responsibility."

Peter Griffin (Family Guy) - Yeah, I don't think I really need to explain why Peter Griffin's an awful father, do I?

Rick Mitchell (The Mitchells vs. The Machines) - Sure, he and Katie have had a very strained relationship as she got older, and he does screw up a lot when it comes to making her and the rest of the family happy, but it's obvious that Rick wants to reconnect with her before she leaves for good, and they do in the end. Had it not been for PAL's attack on humankind, they would've still been estrained from each other.

Bottom row:
Pongo (101 Dalmatians) - Like I've already said with Perdita, they take caring parents to the next level by not only saving their fifteen biological puppies from ending up becoming Cruella de Vil's latest fashion, but they also adopt 84 more puppies to raise.

James Potter (Harry Potter) - I could've easily included Arthur Weasley, but had it not been for James, Harry would never have existed, and the Wizarding World would be a vastly different place. I mean, seriously; James gives up his life to protect Harry, for goodness' sake! Sure, he was a bully to Snape in his youth, but James deserves more credit than he's really given.

Marlin (Finding Nemo) - Setting aside your fears of the deep ocean just to rescue your sole surviving child shows true fatherhood.
