Description
I've read some discussion and argument on Sodor Island Forums regarding Gordon being streamlined in The Great Race. Needless to say, Simon Martin was particularly livid about it, and not without reason, although isn't it too harsh to judge a special based solely on two characters having their appearances changed, even if it's for one special only? (Well, that, and Flying Scotsman not being "period accurate"; at least he wasn't painted orange or purple!) Granted, I've had similar complaints to Starlight Glimmer's subplot in The Crystalling, of course, that wasn't the only gripe I had... but that's another story.Anyway, this is my personal take on how a streamlined Gordon could've looked. I took some inspiration from the streamling of a GWR Castle and I think that's as good as I can get it. If anyone has an idea for how it could look, I'd love to see what you can come up with, and I bet it'll be better than what I have. Maybe black wheels wouldn't hurt.

I can understand Simon's feelings for Gordon's stream lining. And to be honest, I didn't like the look either. Too American for a British locomotive. Then again, HIT can do that because they feel like Americanising a British book/tv show. Another reason I don't follow the TV show anymore. And instead watch YT videos from people who, in my opinion, make much better content and don't throw American stuff that isn't needed onto British rails.

They recently featured the Arlesdale trilogy for season 20.

Yeah. Even going as far as to use some of the stories that were in the books. Tit for Tat among them

No. It's one of the only things I've liked about TTTE recently. Ryan is also another thing I like. Glorious GNR N2.

It could have still worked, or perhaps he could have used the Bullied engine design in which Rebecca's based off.

Looking at this gave me an idea. Here it is in list form.
1. Use the streamlining on the wheels like on the A4's, with Valances.
2. Replace the Fowler Tender with an 8-wheeled Corridor Tender, but with no corridor.
3. To streamline the top, use the air-smoothed top like on the Southern Pacific's Daylight Engines. This will cover the dome, whistle, safety valves and the funnel.
Hard to believe i made all that up on the spot. Thoughts?

There's something to draw. Or for you to pixelate in 8-bit.

I don't really know what they are going to do with this streamlining business and I don't really care for now. But if he did have a different design, it might be a good idea to have a streamlining shell over his original body, in a similar way to how LMS Coronations streamlined.

Maybe it's to make him faster? It could've been nice to streamline him akin to the Coronations.

This is how I originally envisioned Streamlined Gordon, actually. Would've been funny to see; he imagines he'll look grand with his new streamlining but ends up with the GWR styled streamlining! (Something involving Duck could've also been put in with this; maybe he's trying to live down the terrible job that the GWR did with streamlining but then sees this abomination
)

But the Merchant Navy class comes from Oliver Bulleid and incase you forgot he helped design the A4 Pacifics back when he was Sir Nigel Gresley's assistant on the LNER.Β
