Description
Here's how far I've come with my work thus far.I thought I'd post it here now, since I don't really feel like I know where I'll go with it next.
The file is really big because I put my entire star field in there. It will probably look better once resized down, but for now I'll leave it big so that you can se all the detail. I know this isn't the most realistic piece out there, or what I could do, but I thought a little artistic touch wouldn't hurt, especially in the star field. Well... I'll let the work speak for itself.
All critique is warmly welcome

With the star field, I think only the biggest of the stars are too bright, however, the other stars look very pixelated - very square-shaped and defined, like maybe they should fade into the background a little more. ^^ I think shrinking the pic just a little bit would solve that, and maybe help with the planet's texture, too. But the texture really isn't bad at all, I doubt I could do any better with the blurriness.
I've read through Alyn's tutorial too, it's really great. I even favorited it for future reference. ^^ The only problem I have is that I have no idea how to "build up" a planet's texture - I take photos of textures, and blend them together to create my planet's texture. I just can't find good enough textures to make dramatic planets. oO;
But anyway, I hope that helped you get on your way to creating new space art. ^^

Thanks again
I'm right now working on the piece and I have a feeling that I'll soon be ready to submit my first version of it. I think I'll try blurring the stars a bit, see if it helps. I'll see what I can do, thanks to you I have something of a goal to strive to there.
Check out my gallery soon

Hey, for your first space art, that's great! ^_^ The dust clouds look very nice, and the stars have personality, being spaced out unevenly and such. And the atmosphere and texture on the planet are awesome - did you make that texture yourself? It has some wonderful detail. ^^ My only crits would be that the stars are a bit too bright and pixelated, you may want to shrink those down a bit, like you said. And that the texture of the planet seems a little too smooth, appearing as though a blur has been put on it. But overall, it's really nice. Congrats! ^.^

Thanks All that critique is very helpfull.
Yes, I made the texture for the planet myself, the way Alyn teaches in his tutorial for planet creation.
I didn't even notice the planet's texture being blurry, I guess I'll just have to shrink down the entire planet a bit and hope that it helps.
The stars definitely need some shrinking, but did you mean that the big ones were too bright, or did you mean the entire field, or perhaps both?
Now I'll need to take some time to think on what I'll do to make this piece into something worthy of showing in my gallery.
An other planet... a nebulae... or something completely different...
Anyway, thanks for the critique
