This is a picture I took this summer, but I really liked it so I thought I would post it!Submitted to
Stellar's Jay
Large songbird.
Crest on head dark blue or black.
Head, chest, and back brownish-black.
Wings, tail, and body deep blue.
Size: 30-34 cm (12-13 in)
Weight: 100-140 g (3.53-4.94 ounces)
The Steller's Jay and the Blue Jay are the only New World jays that use mud in the construction of their nests.

I saw three stellar's this weekend up in the mountains playing in a tree it was so cool. It was from pretty far though, I wish I could have gotten as close as you did to this bird. Amazing picture. : ]

These are a real friendly bird. I remember them eating tortilla chips out of my hand while I was in British Columbia.

Awe...Thank you so much!! I love this bird, it is the first one I had ever seen around here, and I thought it's colors were amazing!! It actually posed for me, it would turn around and look at me from different angles as I was taking his picture!!

yeah... the bird is fantastic...
and i had a fact similar to yours, actually a squirrel posed for me for a couple of mins... it was great!

Wonderful shot! I love the colors and angle, the bird's expression is great - the closeness really shows his beautiful feather markings. Gorgeous!
