I can tell what you were going for with the piece and that shows well, however their is a great deal that could be improved going forward.

The proportions seem very 'off' in a way that is hard to describe. The relative legs of the arms and thinness of them compared to the rest of the body itself seems off putting. Which is fine if your attempt was for creating an 'otherworldly' nearly Lovecraftian character, but currently all it does is convey something like a praying mantis or other 'stick like' insect. The actual color work is good, and I like how you went about your shading, but your actual fundamentals seem a bit lacking.

Next, the pose itself is rather awkward, with the legs. The way they seem to be situated looks like they ought to be very unbalanced and liable to cause them to fall down.

My major recommendation would be to get a program like ZBrush or Modo (or another 3d modeling software) and learn how to use them - that is something of a 'cheat sheet' as it helps you figure out proportions relative to the pose and the camera angle, and lets you iterate many versions of a single character before you actually commit pen to paper. Makes making changes a lot more easily, and make subtle tweaks that can improve a piece immensely.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Thank you very much for your time! While i agree with 3d can be useful to speed up character design,  i'm trying to study without it. I agree with other critiques and will pay attention on them more next time. This painting is from nearly a year ago and i think i leveled up a bit since then. It was good to look back and hear somebody else's opinion about that.

Thanks again!

She looks so badass! Love the design for her, the jacket and sword really make this. What exactly is the 30 Days RPG Challenge?

Thanks a lot for your kind words

30 Days RPG Challenge is a group on the Facebook that i'm following. The idea is, they give you a list of what you need to draw everyday for a month. For example first thing to draw was the main character of an imaginary RPG game, second one was the Villain of the game , then a dungeon boss etc. It's like you're working for a game company and designing all the things.

It's a really good exercise, if you're lazy like me
