The over focus of Michael, Gabriel and Raphael in iconography has led us to forget how strange and varied the many MANY species of angels there are. Compared to having a golden wheel covered in eyes instead of a head, your murals are quite pleasant as well as mystically beautiful.
If your local community has a great deal of prejudice against the Western Style and tradition, rest assured, their prejudice is NOT a true Orthodox position. It’s just Slavic pride and post-Soviet cultural paranoia masquerading as ‘Orthodox’ caution.
There’s absolutely NOTHING heterodox about your Love of the Western Style, and nothing particularly abnormal about your more subtle themes that I can perceive, in fact in some ways it strikes me as more appropriate than a lot of Renascence art. Did you know that Leonardo used his mistress as a model for the Theotokos AND his Venus?? I find that outrageous and am shocked it was tolerated.
