Description
WOO! It's about time I revisited these characters! Just a reminder and for new viewers, they belong to a story i'm writing about 4 transgender characters. So what's changed?
Lola
-I was having a bit of same-face syndrome when I first designed Lola, with the long nose, big lips, big eyebrows, etc...Her look is still a work in progress, but so far, I've shortened and rounded her face slightly and pinched her nose up. She still has big lips and bushy eyebrows. I am also making her East-Asian/White mixed.
-Her personality has gotten a little darker, honestly. Before, I focused more on how shy and quiet she was but I didn't want to make her too "goody-goody." She's a little bit secretive and vain (in her own private way).
Izzy
-Izzy hasn't changed much, but I've made her a little less mean-looking, haha. She now has a direct facial inspiration, model Julia Nobis . Despite having a reference, she is one of my hardest characters to draw! I have a lot of difficulty with keeping her consistent.
-Her personality used to be all goof, but I thought it would be a nice contrast to make her unexpectedly insightful. She also was originally a tattoo artist, but I made her a hairdresser instead. She will have tattoos tho!
Paris
-Paris never really had set facial features and almost every drawing of him would come out different. I got caught up in him being the youngest of the group, and in trying to push his youthful features, I think I softened him up too much. His hair was also never decided on, I just knew I wanted it to be big! I made him more angular, gave him freckles, and defined his ringlets. He also has a septum piercing and stretched ears now. His style is heavily inspired by Jaden Smith (hence my experiment with the dreads haha)
-He's always been pretty worldly and well-read, but I made him a bit of a know-it-all to balance it out. He also used to be more aloof and detached, but I toned him down by making him quite passionate about the people and things that he loves and insecure. Aren't we all as artists?
Lake
-Lake hasn't changed much in the looks department. Like Izzy, I struggle with keeping his features consistent. I'm also working on drawing him with facial hair. He is half-white half-Gujarati Indian. His facial inspiration is Avan Jogia .
-Lake was originally kind of a self insert, so I really had to change him up to avoid identifying with him too much. He was becoming Mary-Sue-ish, so I wanted to even out his kind, loving hippie side with a bit of carelessness and hedonism. Sometimes his preference for "free love" gets him into trouble
.
And now onto some new characters!
Avery or "Ava"
-Avery is really fun to draw! I wanted her to have a sexy face, with big eyelids, pouty lips, arched brows, swept hair, but also a little unconventional by giving her a big forehead and wide-set eyes. She's a lipstick lesbian who works in a bookstore. Her look is inspired by Julia Oleynik and Georgie Hobday .
Abigail "Abby" Tanaka
-I LOVE ABBY. She's one of my oldest characters, originally from a story about bands that I scrapped. She's Japanese, born in America with immigrant parents. She's tall and lanky, with stringy bleached hair and bleached brows. She's also a lesbian who doesn't talk much, but when she does, she totally woos the ladies. She plays bass in a band and occasionally with her girlfriend, who's a singer. :* Her face inspiration is Soo Joo Park.
Here's an old drawing of her.
Thank you for reading if you did!!
