You know, I get that you're trying to be funny and cute and all, but your depiction of religion just comes off as..."Strawman". As in real religious people do not work that way.
Just sayin.

I like how you fucktards call everything nowadays that you don't agree with for "strawman" it's so stupid i almost find it cute, but in reality i just find it sad and pitiful this is exactly what religion is like, you say god is true and the only evidence whatsoever that you have is the fucking bible and that has as little credibility as any book with sherlock holmes has. grow a brain cell and stop being retarded, please?

I'm not calling him a strawman because I don't agree with him. Obviously no one just takes the Bible as legit simply because it was an old book written a long time ago. To make that statement is ridiculous. And no, we don't just have the Bible as our only evidence whatsoever. For instance, just look at the complexity in the structure of a single-celled organism (which is supposed to be the simplest life form there is). The whole mechanism of a euglena is more complex than the latest smart phone, and yet people like you say that everything in the universe put itself together that way all by mere coincidence.
Frankly, I just don't enough faith to be an atheist.

Actually... there are even YouTube videos of religious leaders saying stuff like that... you think we can come up with that kind of stupidity on our own?

Yes. It's called having an imagination and lot's of vitriol. You make up a lot of bullshit just to make these comics, starting with the fact that you base them on a dichotomy of science and religion, as if you can't be a scientist and a theist at the same time (oh well, better tell that to all these folks:
Nicholas Copernicus, Sir Francis Bacon, Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, Rene Descartes, Blaise Pascal, Isaac Newton, Robert Boyle, Michael Faraday, Gregor Mendel, William Thomson Kelvin, Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Sts. Thomas Aquinas and Augustine of Hippo...and more.
I guarantee there were more reasons than just being an old book - there are plenty of old books we based history on, not all of them being religious, and if you ask a few random people on the street why they think one or another random historical text was accurate, they'll probably say because it was an old book. Maybe that was the only explanation they could articulate because they weren't archeologists or history majors. I guess that means they're all wrong and those texts are full of shit.

I am very busy with college right now. I want to get back to you because this is interesting, but I might not be able to for a while. Whenever I have time for dA, my brain is fried so I don't answer anyone I'm having a debate/intellectual conversation with. If you wish to continue our correspondence, please reply so I can get back to you later. If not, best wishes.

No one, eh? You know that isn't true, many people takes the Bible, the Quran and so on very literal, so don't feed me that BS.
Like I said before, where is your proof of that being the work of a God? You don't have any proof, none whatsoever, so please look up the word "proof" before you use it again, you simpleton. Because you clearly have no idea what proof nor evidence is.
And don't insult me, I'm an Agnostic.
Beside being an Atheist has nothing to do with faith (rather it's the lack of), please don't say things when you clearly lack the knowledge, the information and the education to even talk about these things as you so blatantly has demonstrated to all of us here.
Return to the dark ages where you have cometh, you scoundrel!

In many ways they are both straw men.
Creating two characters that accurately identify with all religious people and those who follow science would be more work than it would be worth.
It would also dramatically cut down on any amount of humor that people may see in it.
These are comics. They take the amount of truth found in stereotypes and re-occurring problems, and blow them up to show people the humor in it all.
These comics are not arguments in a religious debate. It just so happens that Religion is the perfect character to play opposite the "straight man" that Science plays. I have many comics which are not finished that show some of the humorous problems that Science introduces.
These comics are not 100% accurate, but that is to be expected. Getting annoyed about inaccuracies in internet comics is like being mad about lack of realism in Hollywood movies.

Okay, fair enough. At least you admit that these have about as much accuracy as Hollywood movies.

Yeah, luckily appreciation for comedy and entertainment doesn't hinge on a strict level of accuracy. If it did then the whole movie industry would probably collapse, haha.

'Religion' is my friend all over.
She complains about how I believe in the big bang theory because there is 'not enough evidence' (though shes never actually read ANYHTING about it & calls it the 'big random bang which popped planets into their place') but she wont accept that there is WAYY more evidence for the big bang than the things she reads in the bible...

Its funny; You could say the same about a science book. 40% of all science is theories maybe more.
"first there was nothing, then something came and now were here"
"Religion says its god/ Science claims it was the universe, but its the same arguement"
Ironic huh?

So? Einstein was a Pantheist, does that mean Pantheism is the One True Religion? Aristotle believed things fell faster depending on their weight, does that mean that Newton was wrong all along? The Pope believes condoms are increasing HIV infections, does that mean condoms should be avoided?
An idea's validity does not increase as its popularity does. Or as its believers' status increases, for that matter.
That is not to say that I believe that the theory of evolution is religion's downfall, just this specific comment is wrong.
