Description
When I first saw ~Unmentionables 's somewhat distinctive emotes they freaked me out^livius suggested some aversion therapy and I learnt that these emotes could offer some sage advice.
I thought I had recovered.
Then I woke in a cold sweat at 5am! They had found me in my dreams! Argh!
Good news is that this didn't take long to do. I already had the screamer for another piece I'm (slowly) working on and that big thing doesn't attempt to move (
My apologies to ~Unmentionables for being lazy on the shading. I'll try to make amends by saying :

Thanks . And thanks for taking the time to look; I suspect you'll be quite busy for the next few days
.
Have a look at ~Unmentionables gallery when you have a few minutes to spare; that's where the big fella comes from.

I get the impression that the emote gallery is this tighly knit group where everybody knows everybody.
I'll definitely head over to him when I get some of thse comments out of the way then. How can you not love that big guy?

Ooops! Just noticed I replied in the wrong box . What I meant to say was...
Nah. Just jump in & you'll get on fine
There's quite a few veterans but most of the regulars like =the-ace-chef only started in the last year and also a lot that started in the last few months. My first submission was only 7 weeks ago and ~parliamentFunk's done nearly 100 in 9 weeks.
Re. the s and comments - don't forget there'll be a big rush later when the US gets home. When ~parliamentFunk and I got DDs last month we both replied to everyone, but were wasted for the rest of the week

humpy, you done turned it out, my friend. This is fantastic: the perfect classic-emote-meets-Unmentionable scenario. I love the expression on the little fellow as he looks her up and down. The timing is perfect there too.
I also love that the Unmentionables' mouth doesn't move when she says boo.
I simply must have it for my the hoard on my forum. Pretty please?

I wasn't really intending on doing it but the idea just wouldn't go away. Thanks for the comment on the timing - that's what seems to take most of the effort
The Boo was an afterthought. I was just about to send it to ~Unmentionables for approval when I realised what was missing . I wanted to keep in in the style on your forum, hence no moving mouth.
Glad you like it and please feel free to use and abuse as you see fit.

The Boo was one brilliant afterthought. You were right that it's necessary because it punctuates the "run away!1" bit to perfection.
Thank you so much for allowing me to use it on FF. I know for a fact it will be very much well-received.

I think it's a bit like "force persuade", if it's too much of an "in" joke then people would just be scratching their heads and wondering what it's about. (And I've seen from ~parliamentFunk 's misfortune that most people don't read the initial comments ).

To be honest Steve....I really don't like anything above 18 pixels...in fact dA is getting to me and I have mine set to 15 now. It had been set to 18 but a heap of gorgeous 18s are now sitting in the to be done folder, in other words....the 'who gives a shite list'.
I am re doing quite a lot...why? Do I want to be accepted by the in crowd?
(Geez I would love to know who made rofl, it is magic. Crap color but.)
Yeah, no feckin way! Couldn't give a....!
.
I think the art is in the ability to create it tinsy, like you did with the brrrr coming from the mouth. Oh struth...too good!
I think size does matter....the smaller the better!

i would love to know who made too. if you find out, let me know and i'll give him a big hug and kiss. it's cuteness is second only to
of all the emotes i've seen so far on dA (and dA emotes are by far cuter than any i've seen on the web)

I used to think that to, then ~Unmentionables taught me that the art is in the defying of strictures and genre boundaries as well. Her artistry and talent are undeniable, and her emotes verge on the revolutionary.
A lot of people reject them out of hand because of their size, only to come back to them over and over until they become shameless boosters. And yes, I most certainly speak from personal experience.

I think, like all art it is personal preference livius.
Personally I find the subtlety of what most of the artists are doing here to be enchanting.
If big is better then go for it. I am not finding too much subtly in the work. Having said that, I find it a ship load more appealing than those horrible WOW plastic fantastics that are being hawked on MSN or whatever sites.
However, I guess there are folks who love them. I nearly died of a heart attack when one of the bloody things yelled at me on Photoshop.

I didn't say big was better. I just said size doesn't disqualify an emote from being fantastic art. Miniatures come in a range of sizes, and they're all still miniatures. What makes them great is the artisty, not any notion of proper adherence to form, imo. Forms and standards are malleable. There was a time when an emote was by definition textual and not graphic.
As for subtlety, Unmentionables is a master of it, especially of the conceptual variety, as with the action and expression here [link] or the total genius of the hand movements, spikes and most of all, the firebreath here [link]
Her Godzilla is one of my top 5 favorite emotes of all time, and I'm not just saying that 'cause it was my idea either.

Darn it wrong box again....geez!
Yes they are ridiculous. They don't need bloody sound. If they require sound, they are not emotes.
I loathe them with a passion.
Get over the WOW plastic fellas, don't add insult to injury with darn sound as well.
