Very interesting damast pattern here..
you make awesome knives!
but i wanted to suggest you to make sub-galleries in your DA Account.
That way, one could browse only through your knives.

Thanks for giving them a look!
Yes, I agree with you about the folders. Β They are actually in there already, a visitor to my gallery will find them on the right hand side. Β I know that lots of folks have them on the left, that may be why they went unnoticed!

i didnt notice that they were on the right side...
would never have expected them to be there.Β
im used to have all controlsurfaces on the left parts of the screen

I asked Mike Norris for some "Vortex" but it looks different than other Vortex of his I've used in the past.
I love it. Β I'll try to photo some details of the little rosettes and post soon.

The Blacksmith, Mike Norris, folded the steel billet I used for those parts. Β The pattern is a result of fusing a number of layers of different metals into one, then after I've ground it into the blade and lock components, I etch the parts and the pattern is revealed.
Damascus is amazing stuff, I'm fortunate to be able to work with Mike Norris' steel.

Oh lord, that's going to be amazing.Β The blade almost looks like it has copper and bronze layers.Β Are you going to put a thumb stud in it for opening or is that what the beveled three holes are for?Β This is your best metal work yet in my opinion.
π: 0 β©: 1
HundredHands In reply to mnshortdraw [2013-07-19 23:22:51 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! Β Yeah, the blade took on a slightly golden hue from the ferric chloride used in the 2nd etch. Β The 3 holes are indeed there to give the fingers traction for opening. Β Honestly, probably not as functional as a little thumb-bob, but I liked the aesthetic so I went with it.
Glad you like, hope you're doing well!

I like the holes.Β Β Do I dare ask how many hours you will have wrapped up in this one by the time it's finished?Β You seriously need to consider limited commissions or at least a field tester, lol!Β

HundredHands In reply to mnshortdraw [2013-07-20 16:45:06 +0000 UTC]
That's an excellent question, I failed to keep track of the hours on this one. Β
I'm slow! ^_^
