Description
Core Theme
Two silent and barbarian like classic video game one man army monsters hunters of science and magic of the past and future. Both have fought their monsters of evil (Demons for Doomguy and vampires, zombies, bats and many more for Simon) and faced unspeakable horrors for their entire lives and it was their destiny to do so (Doomguy being the chosen one and Simon being a Belmont) to confront the lord of Darkness and evil, dedicated their lives to stopping them once and for all.
Other Connections
The beginnings of their journeys contrast with Doomguy getting sent to Mars as a punishment for punching his superior officer, while Simon voluntarily goes to fight Dracula to prove himself worthy of his family's legacy.
Both have acquired various weaponry from their journeys, one of these weapons stands out from the others, due to it basically being intented for killing the monsters they face (Crucible, which easily slices demons and is one of the weapons capable of neutralizing titan and the Vampire Killer, which was specifically designed to kill vampires. demons and even Death itself)
Both have continuously fought a higher evil and stopped them over and over again (Dracula and Dark Lord), having stopped invasions in a single day due to their raw strength and power alone.
A bit of stretch, but you could say that their legacies were immortal and were shown as heroes, always praised by humans and feared by demons. That their name alone strikes fears to creatures of the night and hell.
They both come from legendary families of heroes from their genres and connected to other games (Doomguy is a member of Blazkowicz family which both has BJ from Wolfenstein and Commander Keen from well... Commander Keen, while Simon is a Belmont and the descendant of Leon and Trevor Belmont).
Both Simon and Doomguy are also barbarian-like in a way, Doomguy for his whole Rip and Tear thing and Simon's design and him being brash and inclined to force his way through situations. This also extends to how both of them managed to stop their villains, not by using a wide array of magical abilities but by simply brute forcing, resisting all kinds of hax, and simply barreling through their everything.
Their series were also inspired by classic horror movies (Doom being inspired by Alien and Evil Dead, Castlevania being inspired by Dracula, Frankenstein and all other kinds of old monster movies).
Another funny link is that their series are also somewhat inspired by Dungeons and Dragons (DOOM's Original Story and Concept coming from a DnD Game in ID Studios and the box art for Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest is heavily inspired by the original Strahd adventure for D&D)
Funnily enough, both would also have a classic trope of hiding secrets behind walls. Being an iconic staple of both series.
Animation Potential (Mostly alot of Scene Ideas)
- The start of the animation being a homage to their roots, with the animation starting in old school 2D Sprites as it recreates the DOOM Level Start screen before doing the opening of Castlevania with Simon kicking down the doors of Castlevania and doing his thing before Doomslayer opens up with a portal like he does in the Eternal Games and the animation changes to 3D
- Then you could have Castlevania itself start to distort and forcibly change, combining the futuristic bases and hellish landscapes of DOOM mixing into the Gothic and Dark halls of Castlevania as the castle is suddenly being invaded and changing from Hells Demons and Doomslayer's own presence. Thus having the background if the fight being a forced mash of classic Castlevania and DOOM levels with the stone walls of Castlevania mixing with the futuristic technology of the UAC and the bloodstained corridors mixing with hell fire itself
- Doomguy pulling out the Chaingun to turn Simon into swish cheese but Simon twirls the whip at such a fast paced that it reflects or blocks the chain guns bullets
- Simon getting confused by the BFG 9000 at first before noticing it's danger as it turns nearby zombies and Demons into mush, he then uses the Stop Watch to escape the green ball of death.
- Doomslayer using the meat hook on Simon and launching himself to Simon only for Simon to use a Rising Whip (Up B in Smash) and send Doomguy flying
- Simon throwing down a sacred flame/pillar of flame only for Doomslayer to retaliate with a ice blast that thaws the fire away
- Doomslayer bringing out a rocket launcher and firing a homing rocket at Simon only for the Belmont to throw a knife at the rocket, splitting it half and causing an explosion. Or you could have Doomslayer fire a burst rocket and having Simon throw a knife that splits each rocket in half.
- Simon following up to this by throwing a golden knife that goes straight into the barrel of the rocket launcher, jamming it and rendering it useless.
- Or you could have Simon actually latch onto the rocket and either ride it or throw it back to Doomguy since it's homing.
- Doomslayer charging up a heat blast with the plasma gun but right before charging it, the Spirit of The Belnades shields Simon from it
- Simon throwing an Axe in the air but Doomslayer pulls out the Heavy AR and snipes it out of the sky
- Simon throwing a javelin only for Doomslayer to fire a balista shot that tears the javelin in half, forcing Simon to narrowly dodge it.
- Doomslayer smashing a wall and finding a megahealth power up in reference to the Wall Chicken from Castlevania and Secrets of DOOM Games
- Simon trying the same but the first time he finds a music disc that's he confused by (with the disc being a DOOM Song) before breaking another wall and finding what he's looking for
- Doomguy gaining a berserker power up and instead of zoning him out, Simon's brashness gets the better of him as he puts away the whip and starts throwing hands with Doomslayer
- Simon gaining a Laurel while Doomslayer gets an invincibility power up as both just start slugging it out and smashing each other into walls, throwing each other into enemies and using the environment
- Simon using the environment and swinging away with his whip... Only for Doomslayer to swing straight at him with his bare hands and air dashing to him, punching in the face
- Doomslayer firing his shotgun at full auto only for Simon to be shielded by the Bible, forming a shield
- Simon throwing a ricochet rock as it bounces around the room, slightly annoying Slayer as he grows and pulls out a pistol, shooting it without even looking.
- Having Simon slowly but surely whip away each of Doomslayer's seemingly unlimited arsenal until Doomguy only has his Plasma Pistol and Fists would be a good comeback
- Doomslayer charging up a blood punch while Simon wraps the vampire killer around his fist, both punching each other and clashing as a rush of energy knocks both of them away
- Doomslayer using the Chaingun's shield to protect himself only for Simon to rush forward and slam his whip onto the shield, shattering it and knocking Slayer away
- Simon attempting a dive kick after swinging into the air only for Doomslayer to grab his leg and yank him, slamming Simon starting into the ground cracking the floor
- Having both DOOM Demons and Castlevania Monsters join the fight as they both fight and knock away the monsters akin to Leon vs Frank
- Having Doomslayer pull out the Crucible as he gives a last stand with practically zero weapons while Simon flourishes his whip, both taking a healing item before Slayer charges at Simon
- For a Doomslayer ending, it could turn into first person from Slayer's perspective with the DOOM Hud in display as Simon glows red and tried to weakly whip Slayer only for Doomslayer to grab the whip, pulling Simon straight to him and doing a spinebuster onto Simon, as he starts beating into the ground with each punch disfiguring Simon's face, lastly pulling out his plasma pistol and charging it up, pointing it to Simon's face and giving him middle finger before firing it and blasting Simon's head off in a gory mess
- For a Simon ending, He charges his whip and the Golden Cross on his back glows brightly. Then rushes at his Slayer while he fails to block unable to comprehend his speed and power. Whipping Doomguy five times vertically and charges his whip another time with more power before hitting Slayer another ninety three times creating an illusion of a sphere. Before grabbing out a stake and throwing it at each of Slayer's limbs, pinging him to a wall in the sign of the cross and knocking away the helmet before throwing one final knife that pierces Doomguy's head.
- Just give the fight a David vs Goliath feel as Simon figures out how to beat this seemingly unstoppable and futuristic armored monster of rage
Music Potential
Having the track start out with 2D chip tune style music with a short melody of both Vampire Killer and At DOOM's Gate/E1M1 then turning into a Symphonic Metal Song that mixes the Orchestral Rock of Castlevania and The Heavy Industrial Metal of DOOM, giving lemotifs to both Bloody Tears and The Only Thing They Fear Is You maybe adding a Guitar Solo too for the hell of it.
The ending of the song when one of them dies turns back into the original chiptune style with either a remix of Intermission From DOOM if Slayer wins or Stage Clear if Simon wins
