Bahamut had lost everything.
His companions were gone, many of his friends had left, he had lost two mates, and even his children were missing. He was in such a state that even his beloved home of Zenethia was on the brink of ruin.

All because of him...

After so many battles, so many conflicts, so many defeats overwhelming his victories he just couldn't stand it anymore.

Zenethia would be in good hands with the council and it could thrive without him, so he came to a decision.

He had gone to see the demon known as Zodiac; once a slave of Zeleme much like himself, he had grown to become a demon lord of the Demonic Realm, taking the position of his sire Lord Orias, learning all of the secrets the former demon lord possessed and pledging his loyalty to the new Ebon Prince Arrk.

And it was to him that the former dragon king submitted himself to.

Zodiac understood the pain that the dragon had been going through and how they both had suffered at the hands of the Deceiver, so a agreement was made: he did not enslave him but instead bound him to his service.

Or so he told him.

Using the ancient magic from Zeleme as well as his own, he had fused mystical cuffs and armor onto the dragon; black armor infused with ancient rune magic and changing his black collar into rune-inscribed gold, and performed a ritual that would change Bahamut; turning his royal blue fur into a black color, his hair a fiery gold color, runes of ancient power appearing on his form; even his many scars had changed their color to a golden hue.

The ritual did not enslave or indenture the dragon; instead the ritual had changed him as well as hide away his memories; the dragon faced too much pain but it would not be right for him to throw away his life when so much could still be done.

After the ritual was complete, the dragon slept for many long years until he finally recovered and emerged into a strange new world; his memories hidden away.
But one thing remained the same: he was an adventurer, a hero, and he needed a purpose.

In the time to come, he would be known throughout the land as the 'Runic Guardian'.

Just a random plot idea that came to mind over the past few weeks and from playing way too much Champions Online.

Champions has one of the best character creators I've played with and I keep playing around with ideas and eventually I did try to create Bahamut to play with, but as I was playing around with the creator I ended up creating a hero that I felt had some interesting similarities to Bahamut: i727.photobucket.com/albums/ww…
It didn't take long for this story idea came to mind, so in an attempt to get my creative drive going again, I sat down and actually drew out Bahamut in this new look.

Overall, I'm pleased with how this turned out. Yes there are a few bits that bug me, but I think it looks pretty decent and it's something a little different with Bahamut, so it was fun.
