▁▃▆ Appearance ▆▃▁
A bulky wolf with a shorter stature, Credence’s pelt is an intermingling of rustier shades, ebonies, and lighter tans.
The fur of his coat is thick and full, with tendrils of tufts, long yet well-groomed.
Rips scar both ears received not from battle but a playful scuffle that became too intense. Although, in some aspects, he enjoys the idea he earned a “scar,” thinking that it provides him with a tougher exterior. Which it subjectively it does not.
Stance wise, for a wolf with such broad build, he keeps his head low, rarely carrying himself higher.
His eyes are of a lighter shade of green and often carry a pensive glint to them.
Despite his bulkiness, the visage of Credence is not one that intimidates, especially given his stance and the general way in which he carries himself.

▁▃▆ Personality ▆▃▁
Paranoid ◆ Bright ◆ Cunning ◆ Inquisitive ◆ Evasive ◆ Ambitious ◆ Stubborn ◆ Cowardly ◆ Serious
Suffering from an inner fear regarding the intentions of others and the world, Credence can be stand-offish, creating distance to keep himself from becoming hurt. Even if someone is dear to him, the wrenching anxiety still entangles him in its grasp, making him a bit of a problematic companion at times.
Unfortunately, he is only partially aware when his paranoia is false. Cutting ties suddenly can occur if his fears consume him enough. Regardless, he struggles to overcome anxiety. This has led Credence to, at times, tend to be evasive. Mostly dodging inquiries regarding his opinion on Kol and the like. Getting an opinion out of him can be akin to pulling teeth. Beyond that, he has difficulty reading other wolves and questions motives. Overall, Credence’s stability is rocky at best.
Credence makes his loyalty to Tundes known whenever he can, his ambition fueling his flames to rise past the rank of omega. Despite being ambitious, Credence is not self-serving. Rather, he cares more to serve those around him, seeking approval while also being genuine. Something of an odd mix. With proclivities to having cunning ways, Credence can be analytical using wit to his advantage. Tied into his evasive nature, this has made Credence a good liar. Although one must note, Credence only uses his cunning to either get out of a sticky situation or against ones he may deem foes.

It would be rare for him to use cunning against his pack. In some regards, Credence could be seen as untrustworthy, and to call him such may not be out-of-line given his reluctance to air his thoughts on particular topics. This habit does not make his opinions overt. However, he still will work to prove loyalty to his pack. Credence has an inquisitive soul. Mostly centered on the properties and effects of various herbs. With a keen interest in medicinal herbs, he aspires to one day become an herbalist. Short explorations to study plants are not unusual for Credence, as he feels a fierce connection with nature. Being among forestry vast and wide serves to be preferential for him.

Despite having a natural intrigue in the world, he has a stark distaste toward the ideology of magic and anything that could be considered supernatural or unexplained. Dread often brims in him when broaching the subject of magic. He believes to dabble in the likes of such an unknown is to play with fire. Credence believes in no deity, never questioning if there is a god or other forces at play. There is always, in the end, has to be an explanation, and for him, it is not a figure one cannot see. It would not be a lie to say Credence is stubborn, especially in his beliefs, only wavering to paranoia. Even still he can be a bit of a mule or a brick wall with changing his opinion once set in stone. One can try to break his borders, but it is rather tricky, and his reluctance remains.
Despite this, he is a quick learner, bright and capable of picking up things in a snap. It also assists in his abilities to solve problems that may arise, as Credence is forever calculating. In terms of socialization, Credence can vary between awkwardness and to something resembling a more stoic approach. Carrying on a conversation is not a refined skill set he maintains, although, he wishes to be more charismatic. Even then, he stumbles over his words and second-guesses himself, which can prove exhausting.

Despite his father's eventual influence, Credence is not much of a fighter. Rather, instead, he has proclivities towards cowardice. Bravery does not come with ease, and to be brave he has to push himself and his limits. As a whole, Credence is better than standing up for others than himself. This generally gives him a tendency to avoid fights of fang and claw, preferring to wage assaults through word than by his maw or paws.
Even still, if he can avoid any situation of such, it is quite to his fancy.

Credence tends to take everything about him with immense gravity- a seriousness that does not deplete. Lollygagging and joking about is not the norm for Credence, which unfortunately can make him not a lot of fun for those who enjoy more jovial and mirthful interactions. This seriousness wavers rarely and gives him an intensity he might not have without this trait. So caught into the routine, Credence can forget to lighten up. His tolerance for joking when serious circumstances are at play is very low. Whether he would speak up about that or not is another thing altogether.

▁▃▆ Dislikes ▆▃▁
Fumbling in conversation. To say the least, it is awkward for Credence and he doesn’t come across how he wishes he could. This struggle is like a thorn in his side. ◄
The unknown. What Credence doesn’t understand inspires fear. The idea of not knowing how the world around him truly works feels him. ◄
Having little to do and too much energy to expend. If Credence finds himself with little to do, boredom eats away at him, leaving him at the mercy of his anxieties. ◄
The creeping fear of death. Perhaps some do not fear death, Credence has a profound fear, one that lingers in the back of his mind perpetually.◄
Failing. To fail is a prompt for Credence to become hard on himself. He does not tolerate failure well, equating it with his self-esteem and value. ◄
His insomniac tendencies. Sleep is elusive for Credence despite how much he tries to grasp onto it.  ◄
The beast that is paranoia. Perhaps one of Credence’s greatest fears is his immense paranoia, which buzzes in his ear like continual droning.◄

▁▃▆ History ▆▃▁
“Kindled flames”
▁▃▆▉▉   Chapter 1   0-6 months -

Within the united pack dwelling on the island, all transpired amidst a night where the moon did not shine through the clouds and enveloping darkness wreathed the land. It was winter, and the frigidity seeped to the bone.
Fess, a smaller wolf with marked fragility gave birth to two pups- Credence and his brother Ris. Not an ideal time for pups, indeed, yet circumstances happened. Credence and Ris' father remained absent during their birthing. As it stood, Fess teetered on a tightrope with his father, Almesti, the ground on which their relationship stood rocky. Credence was the bigger of the pups, while Ris was smaller- sicklier. Together all three huddled in warmth, and Fess celebrated their life with the murmured whispers of a song.
In the meanwhile, Almesti stayed away, as if Fess would send toxicity into his veins.
However, Fess took little time to grieve nor linger in seething anger, no. Instead, she focused on Ris and Credence, and for a while, things fell in place. As Credence grew, as did his love for Fess and Ris. Ris, despite their natural sibling rivalry, became Credence's closest friend and the two were nearly inseparable.
As they grew, things began to change, like thin ice cracking beneath their paws.

“Burdens”
▁▃▆▉▉   Chapter 2   6-12 months -

A sickness grew in Fess, albeit, one of the mind. She began to whisper to herself in bouts, pacing. Almesti, of course, pretended to know none the wiser.
Credence found himself speechless, no longer able to speak with her with any amount of normality and unable to act- frozen in place as though he became a statue. How foolish he thought he was- for not knowing how to assist his mother with her ailment. Regret ensnared him, and the guilt spilled from him like blood as his mother descended further into madness.
In a series of events, their bond broke as Ris began to align with Almesti, growing to see his mother as both an embarrassment and a burden. A yawning rift developed, and Ris began to spend his time with Almesti while Credence stuck with Fess, attempting to assist her on her worst days with no lack of guilt that he could not do more. Soon, Fess withered away, becoming ill until she passed in her sleep.
This shattered Credence, and he lugged the grief on heavy shoulders.

“Fear Consumes”
▁▃▆▉▉   Chapter 3   12 months-3 years
With his mother dead and his relationship with Ris succumbing to turbulence, Credence began to attempt to bond with his father- something he scorned numerous times before, desperate to fill the hole Fess left in his heart. This was to Ris’ chagrin, and they soon engaged in unspoken competition for their father’s favor.
Now, at a year old, Credence carried a different weight, one of culpability and it left him hardened, the joys of youth slipping past like granules of sand. If he could not have saved Fess, nor mend the tense relationship he held with his brother, he strove to impress his father more than Ris could, and for a while, it seemed he caught Almesti's attention, if not for his continuous obedience to the united pack shown through diligence. However, never could they see eye to eye.

An upstart named Malaysia changed the game several seasons later. Word spread quickly of Malaysia and what she preached, and tensions erupted- even among his familial bonds.  Credence need not see the actions set forth by Malaysia to know the horror behind them and carry an immense disgust at the macabre. To sacrifice? For Credence, it invoked ire. Surely she sought to destroy the unity within the pack? Sought to destroy serenity?

In the meanwhile, the band of wolves became divided, with some frightened enough to join the newfound pack- Kol, others allured by Malaysia's potential power. The tensions grew amidst their ranks, and wearied, Credence sought only peace. As the pack began to divide, Ris and Almesti joined Kol, seeing strength in Malaysia’s paws alongside a flourishing of ideologies that appealed to them. Credence would have nothing to do with it, maintaining loyalty to Osirus. Leave both his father and brother, who he viewed rigidly as traitors, to fate, he decided, his stance hardened. As things grew taut like a pulled wire even between wolves he knew naught, he continued to align with Osirus, coming to side with Tundes- not a name born from kindness. Unity broke in full. All in all, Tundes adhered to beliefs he found agreeable. Malaysia rattled him, and he could not fathom siding with Kol.
Now, he bore figurative teeth at the pack decisively spat as "Kol." He fell into a routine within Tundes, and for once, the burdens felt lifted, if not by a pinch following Osirus' lead. However, during his nightly treks, he began to feel perturbed. Credence could feel the hair rise on his neck. Something felt wrong. After a while, the feeling spread like poison in his bloodstream, and his beliefs became shaken to their core.

Even still, a celebration on the night of the full moon was planned by Osirus. In earnest, Credence looked forward to the relief in the enjoyment. However, to their bewilderment, the moon came coated crimson like blood- a bad moon on the rise. Credence's peace was shattered, and horrified, he learned of bones left within their territory that spoke, in his eyes, of great evil. With all that occurred, Osirus sent a call for a meeting, and one was secured. Tundes and Kol were to meet at Melusine lake.

While the meeting ended in some semblance of not-quite-peace, but not hostility either, soon after, bodies begin to appear; even more disconcerting, ones lacking wounds. It was then that Credence's paranoia began to rise, the fear clutching his heart with barbed twisting claws. Worst yet, Osirus commanded no wolf to leave the border- what with disagreement fragmenting the pack and a cause still not discovered- and in an instance, Credence felt trapped. Nerves frayed, Credence obeyed still. Such it seemed, even if not stated, they geared for potential war.

Afterward, as time progressed, more corpses were discovered. Credence could feel the hitch in his breath. This time with blood spewed from their lungs. His pack mates fell to what appeared to be a twisted sickness, and inside fear gnawed, vexatious like a gnat. When days pass- an entire season- and death was expected, and nothing came, Credence garnered some vague form of relief.
...However, a disturbance haunted him still.
And so apparently did the disease as it took its grip upon Tundes. Like a stone thrown in the water, it disturbed the balance, what with a lessened amount of quarry to satiate hunger. At last, given the circumstances, Osirus lifted the borders.
Even still, Credence sensed the situation to be taut but he did not disagree with the decision.
Perhaps things would turn a new leaf?
Times slowly changed as Tundes persevered despite the sickness. While there had been mutual distrust between the packs, Tundes accepted help from Kol. This shocked Credence shook him to his core. Although, while not hostile, Credence did not allow his walls to crumble.
How could he forget all that had happened? Could Malaysia be trusted or those that followed her?

Regardless, as winter continued, eventually the pack began to gain back its strength, to which Credence was grateful, that is until a clash between Tundes and Kol sparked uncertainty regarding Osirus. Again, the distance between the packs seemed to grow.
Credence did not know what to make of the situation and while he wished to deny it, he began to internally question Osirus’ capability as a leader. Although, he did not voice his opinion, as is typical for him.

The maw of death clasped their throats once more, with the loss of eight. Fear lit within Credence kindled like flickering flame and he pondered if ever they would survive the cruelty of winter. It is eventually told the dead displayed odd behaviors prior.
Dread began to grow like crawling ivy and Credence found himself more afraid than ever before. What would become of their pack? How much loss would they see before it all ceased?
He knew not and did not anticipate the best.
It was left to fate, which left Credence with little comfort and only more arising trepidation.

 Relations   ▉▉▆▃▁
▁▃▆▉▉   Almesti-
Father
Alive, as far as Credence is aware. ◄
“No longer shall I waste time on you.”
Credence’s relationship with his father has always held turbulence, despite his later attempts to impress him. Almesti simply was not the paternal sort. Regardless, Credence is left embittered and he does not view his father with fondness and has lost the desire in completion to awe him after he joined Kol.
Overall, he feels foolish for having attempted to gain his favor, to begin with when he could have spent the time bettering himself.
▁▃▆▉▉   Fess-
Mother
Deceased. ◄
“Sometimes I can’t help blaming you for leaving me here, what am I supposed to do?”
Besides Ris, not counting when things became troubled between them, Fess was one of the wolves Credence was closest to and he cared deeply for her.
Many times she would tell him fables and tales, stories created from her imagination. These are some of Credence’s fondest memories. However, as Fess began to decline, things grew harder and harder, yet unlike Ris, Credence did not opt to disown her. While he understood Ris had his reasons, Credence disagreed with them.
As such, until she passed, Credence visited her many times and kept her company. The loss of his mother left a hole gaping in his soul.
▁▃▆▉▉   Ris-
Brother.
Alive, as far as Credence is aware. ◄
“I miss how we used to be, brother.”
At the beginning of their lives as pups, Credence and Ris were inseparable. Fess’ decline in health proved to be a wedge between them, evoking bad blood to grow. This was only furthered when amidst his loneliness Credence opted to try to impress his father.
A quiet competition grew and when a rift divided the united pack, Credence felt no longer he knew his brother.
As it stands, while he maintains a grudge, deep down he pines for how things used to be between them.
