The reflected image on the water should be mirrored (!!!) You draw the reflected tree in a wrong direction! Anyway i really like this painting! Good job!

i agree, the painting is a mystery, but that's perfectly fine...to leave the viewer guessing

Hi there!
I'm here on behalf of #Traditional-Artists to make sure you get all the feedback this piece got at our last Critique Night!
I hope it is helpful and you can use it for your future work! By ~XxSeizaxX :
βWell, First of all, I like this painting I really do. However, I just feel it needs more to it. (I read in the description the trees are not supposed to have branches) But I feel like it needs something more in the background a setting sun, more colors, something else it's a bit...open to me.β By ~Elveanna :
βWhat an unusual piece! I really love your colour scheme, the yellow brings warmth into the usual green-grey of forests. The trees are fascinating, I would wish though that maybe some of them were a bit shorter, ending still in the frame, or they tend to look like sticks or strings. I'm not sure of those tiny lines are of your making or if the paint produced them, but having a "clean" background seems more desirable to be, and instead you might add more trees slowly fading into the background, giving the impression of a full-fledged forest instead of only a line of trees (where the sun would usually not appear this obscured). Beautiful work on the shadows, the water edge at the bottom and the tree with leaves (especially the highlights). I love the unusual division of space, with the horizon being very low and the trees being very tall as well. I don't know how much of the lighting here comes from photographing, but it works beautifully. Well done!β By ~Stars-Snowflake :
βAs XxSeizaxX said, this piece needs something. I like the color scheme and the bizarre shape of the forest. It reminds me of something out of "The Nightmare Before Christmas." Yet there needs to be something. Maybe a painted sun or a subject in the middle.β By *LeahJay :
βThis painting has a restful feeling. I like the design of the diagonals - it reminds me of bamboo forests. I notice some technical points - maybe I can suggest not leaving any white "poking out" around the edges. Many times when people plan an acrylic painting they are a little hesitant when applying the paint. I don't know how your process went, but the way I do it is completely cover the surface with the background color first, or an underpainting, depending on subject. This one is pretty simple so you could have toned it all gold first. Another option: You can actually buy black gesso and start with black, then build in the colors around the black areas. The light vertical texture in the background really adds to the life of this painting. Without those strokes the background would feel "dead" but with them, there is depth and a distant succession of trees. I also appreciate the restrained color - just gold and a little pine green - more would have distracted. Nice composition and idea!β By ~Liennepien :
βAlrighty! There are two sides to this painting, if you ask me. I like the simpleness, with the trees only consisting of one 'stroke' and the one pine tree which is more detailed. Also the little details in the front, like the rocks, make it that the painting is not boring. On the other hand, there could be something more. But I'm not sure what, because too much more may take away the 'abstractness' it has now. So I can't help you with that, I suppose. I really like the colour-scheme you used. Only thing that I feel is not right is the reflection of the trees in the water, I'm not sure whether they are in the right place. The lightreflection in the water is very well done.β

You're welcome!
It was a very small one anyway, I hope to manage a somewhat bigger one next time, maybe you can make it to that.
