The system of Thessia is the homeworld of the Asari race, with over 5 billion inhabiting the near-earth sized garden world. Thessia is the center of Asari culture, art, economic acivity and boasts the Milky Way's largest economy, as well as being the most technologically advanced planet, making record breakthroughs in the fields of science and technology each passing decade. The planet is also heavily blanketed by Element Zero, causing Asari to develop biotic abilities as a result of eezo exposure. The planet is still largely divided among city to nation-state relations, and because of the Asari's diplomatic prowess, maintain an effective e-democracy and a largely stable global society.
