Description Adapted from my entry for Conceptart.org's Concept Cohesion activity. I liked how my giant dire wolf was turning out, and was annoyed that I had to give it a snake tail and mechanical paws in order to meet the entry requirements. So here's the piece as I would have made it if not for those requirements.

Dire wolves were an older, now extinct species of wolf. They were a bit stockier and bulkier, which I thought would make them a better base for a riding mount than current wolves - though the zany genetic stuff would still have to make them bigger.

Glad you liked it.

a dire wolf is a type of large timber wolf that lived thousands of years ago. Here's a bit of info if you want to skim: [link]

Thanks! That one was my first piece trying out a different way to do fur, and I think it's much better than the old methods I used.

Hey, with the way the price of gas is going, pretty soon we all might prefer to have giant riding monsters that fill up on squirrels.

Woo, that's really cool. I like how you colored the fur and made the eyes stand out.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the fur effect, which I just sort of stumbled across while working on the piece. Almost certainly use it again next time I need to draw something fluffy.
