It's aright to think it's adorable, it is pretty baby (well, fetus)-like.
As for it being aquatic, it could be possible. Or that it could be equally at home in the water as well as zero-gravity. Or that they're in zero-gravity already, that these pets could be considered something a kin to "space fish" (although does not actually live in the vacuum of space).
It's a sketch after all, you can interpreted as whatever you want.
