Why have the villains go for a protagonist's weakness when they can just go for the protagonist's greatest strength instead, and manipulate to use it something that the protagonist would find morally abhorrent?

You can tell I'm serious about Polsterreich when I'm talking about the end of story... don't get me wrong. I love working on the story so much but I won't feel sad when this process will inevitably come to and end as I will have something I'm proud of in my portfolio. Plus I still have Cloudburst, an unnamed prequel and maaaayybe a sequel to milk out of this universe.
