Description
The second piece in my iridescent bird series, the red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus).
The whole blackbird family seems to have this coloring effect on their feathers, although certain types stand out much more than others. The red-winged blackbird is definitely subtle in its iridescence, but beautiful when the light catches it just right. Feather colors that start out in jet black can suddenly shift to indigo, violet and teal – quite a sight!
