Description I'm going to start this with the DC Wiki explanation of Tellus and who he is in canon- "Ganglios, better known as Tellus is a Hykraian hailing from the ocean world of Hykraius. He is a yellow-skinned alien from a planet of strange looking beings who communicate through telepathy and don't have a typical humanoid body. He joined the Legion Academy to train to one day become a Legionnaire of the Legion of Super-Heroes.

Prior to joining the Legion of Super-Heroes, Ganglios was already recruited to help on a live mission with a few of his fellow cadets. On one mission, in particular, Ganglios failed his objective but in his failure, he overheard a malicious thought which saved the entire Legion from sabotage. This heroic event pushed Ganglios from the Legion Academy into the Legion of Super-Heroes."

Now that this bit is out of the way, Tellus is a very special character to me. He and Quislet are, in my opinion, the greatest examples of what the Legion was supposed to be about- heroes from around the galaxy joining forces for the greater good. And not just humans chosen from Crayola box, but actual non-human/humanoid beings. When Tellus first appeared, I sculpted him out of clay that still sits on my shelf today. It's horrible and not a good example of the character, but it's there.
When the DCUC line first started up, the hope was there among the collecting community that the Legion would appear, and they eventually did. 11 of them at least. Customizing would have to happen to fill out the roster. You've seen several of my efforts already to fill out the roster of almost 100 individual characters. Eventually I'll get more of them done.
But I HAD to have Tellus. And it wasn't going to be easy.
This is the only time you will ever hear me praise the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie or the Mattel Movie Masters line of figures. It gave us Isamot Kol. Ugly, hunchback lizard dude Isamot Kol.
I must have used two tubes of GreenStuff butchering and rebuilding Isamot Kol into Tellus, all while on the road for work. This figure travelled in my carry-on through airport security six times.
And I didn't work on him alone. I took a chance and reached out to Steve Lightle, the character's creator to ask for advice on the hands and other bits I couldn't find the right art for. We talked. I shared progress pics. He told me it was the most faithful adaption of his character he'd seen to date, and that included what other comic artists were doing at the time.
The helmet comes off. I used the fishbowl helmet from a NautKeLoi Green Lantern.

Steve passed away on January 8, 2021. I never got to meet him in person to show him the toy we worked on together.
