Description
After discovering her Cybertronian origins, Sari decides to use her Allspark Key to upgrade herself, unlocking her full technorganic abilities!Sari is a 3.75" scale custom figure. I started with a Star Wars: The Clone Wars Padme Amidala figure, sculpted on the extra details with modeling putty, and painted the whole thing using Formula P3 acrylics.

I always loved this figure. I plan on making my own Sari using a Cato Parasitti as the base, so that I could use her mask to make Sari's battle mode face. But I gotta ask how you made that dress without fear of it breaking when you move the legs.

Pretty much the same way you'll see skirts on most production figures. There are two, thin, overlapping pieces made from two-part epoxy. They're fairly flexible, so they allow her some movement. That said, the figure didn't have a huge amount of articulation in the first place, so that may not be the best way to go in every case.

WOW!
I just used a power rangers RPM toy to make her in battle mode all the time.... I suck.

awesome use of the clone wars padme! Very cool. I read on your gallery that you had some trouble with the sculpting stuff? Is it a two part self hardening clay? if you've never used anything like that I would recomend trying out some "Apoxi sculpt". It's a two part self hardening clay that works like epoxy. It has a good consistency and fairly good long work time. It starts getting to hard to sculpt after about an hour and a half. with wet tools and fingers it smooths out to a nice glossy finish...

It wasn't so much that I had trouble with the putty, just that it was my first time using it and there was a bit of a learning curve. Now that I've gotten used to it, I'm quite pleased with the stuff I'm using, though, yes, I am familiar with Apoxie Sculpt.

That really is excellent, easily the best Sari custom I've seen. I admire the skill of all those who make theirs from scratch, but to me they always end up looking a little freaky. Not like this, which is just fanastic. Nice touch in selecting Clone Wars Padmé to give her a more cartoony look.
I don't suppose you'd be interested in customizing another one and selling it to a fan? Just wondering is all.

Glad you like it! I'm not looking to make another one myself, but I would heartily endorse giving it a shot yourself! It's a lot more satisfying that way, anyway. If you follow the link I've got in the description you'll find a flickr gallery with a load of pictures including some WIP stuff, and a pretty throughout description of the process and materials I used.
