About 4 years ago on my old deviantart account, Darku909, I made art of Ash and Serena dressed up as Red and Leaf from Pokemon Firered and Leafgreen. It was my most viewed piece of work on deviantart, and a lot of people liked it. Once Pokemon Sword and Shield were announced and we got a glimpse of some of the trainers, I noticed that there was one trainer (I'm assumming it's a Lass trainer) that had long blonde hair. I then immediately pictured Serena in that outfit, and later on decided to draw Ash and Serena if they appeared in a Sword and Shield Anime.I know Serena cut her hair in X&Y, but...it's gotta have grown back by now, right?
As for Ash's design, obviously I based it on the male protagonist of Sword and Shield, but I gave him a normal baseball cap instead of a beanie like the male protagonist. I don't know, I just think Ash looks best with a cap, and he'd look weird with a beanie. As for the shoes, there isn't a shot of the male protagonist where it shows his shoes, so I couldn't make that. However, Ash always wears sneakers anyways, so whatever.
Also, notice the blue ribbon in the back of Serena's hair. I had to.

Not necessarily; we got Iris instead of Hilda for B&W, and Sun & Moon had the trial captains + Lillie instead of the Moon/Selene/whatever her name is and only one of the trial captains. They could do something like those two seasons for Sword and Shield.
Though of course, that doesn't mean I think that Serena's gonna come back. I just made this for fun.
As for what starter pokemon Ash is gonna have, I think he'll have Grookey instead of Sobble, unless he ends up having them all. Though I do agree with Scorbunny.

So it's obvious that they would go back to the Female Trainer formula again. I said Grookey because Dawn had Piplup, and just like X and Y is a reflection to Advance because of the Gen 3 Remake, it's obvious a similar thing will happen with Sword and Shield with Diamond and Pearl because of the possible Gen 4 Remake next year.
Gen 1 (Red and Green/Blue) - Gen 1 Remake (FireRed and LeafGreen) came out 8 years later with Gen 3 (Ruby and Sapphire)
Gen 2 (Gold and Silver) - Gen 2 Remake (HeartGold and SoulSilver) came out 10 years later with Gen 4 (Diamond and Pearl)
Gen 3 (Ruby and Sapphire) - Gen 3 Remake (OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire) came out 12 years later with Gen 6 (X and Y) - The Animes both had Ash, Female Trainer, Gym Leader and young sibling, both Female Trainers got Fire Type, but with Ash getting Grass in Gen 3 and Water in Gen 6, whilst Gym Leader got Water in Gen 3 and Grass with another Gym Leader in Gen 6)
Gen 4 (Diamond and Pearl) - Gen 4 Remake will come out 14 years later with Gen 8 (Sword and Shield) - If to coincide with all this and rippling to Gen 6, then both will probably have Ash, Female Trainer and Gym Leader. Female Trainer gets cutest one with Water for Gen 4 and Grass with Gen 8, whilst Ash getting Grass and Fire in Gen 4 would have Fire and Water for Gen 8. I dunno, but Sobble looks to me like another Chimchar. Plus, Gen 7 has already gone a similar pattern of Ash getting Grass then Fire whilst Lana, a Trial Captain got a Water as Gen 4.

I feel like who Ash will end up traveling with will depend on how they portray Ash as a character rather than some formula.
Kanto Ash - A new trainer just learning about pokemon and traveled with two Gym Leaders that would teach him stuff.
Johto Ash - A fairly experienced trainer just traveling with his friends he made previously.
Hoenn Ash - An experienced trainer that's now helping a new trainer with her journey, but is still continuing his journey as well.
Sinnoh Ash - An experienced trainer that's helping another new trainer, but not only does he teach her things, he ends up learning from her too (Counter-Shield, Spin-Dodge, etc.)
Unova Ash - A trainer that somehow reverted into a dumbass that's traveling with an annoying bitch and Sonic the fucking Hedgehog (or Light Yagami in the Japanese version).
Kalos Ash - A trainer that's carried a little bit of his dumbass traits from the previous season, but is a little bit better, who travels with a Gym Leader who learns about courage or whatever from Ash, that Gym Leader's younger sister, and a girl who Ash met as a kid who's kindness and gentleness with Ash lead me to finding my favorite ship in Pokemon.
Alola Ash - Just a trainer who came to the Alola region for vacation, but ended up joining a Pokemon School 'cause it seemed fun lol.
Because Ash's character doesn't seem fully consistent, especially after Unova, it's not really easy to predict on how the anime is gonna work. I'm pretty sure that nobody could have predicted that Ash would go to school in Sun & Moon.
Maybe what you've said will happen, I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see.

He'll probably carry the similar traits he had from Sun and Moon, especially after his time in Pokemon School, but with the Female Trainer and the Gym Leader of Galar helping him out, he would probably improve slightly, just as the two characters would on their journey through Galar. The Female Trainer could be a trainer who had just moved from Sinnoh to compete in the Contest in Galar. (There is a Munchlax in the Player's house in the trailer)

That's because almost all of Ash's clothes are based on the male player characters of each region, the one exception being Hoenn. Red, Gold/Ethan, Brendan, and the new protagonist are the only male protagonists where their shirts/jackets/vests/whatever are a shade of red, while the rest have blue tops. Ash never had outfits based on Gold/Ethan or Brendan, and Ash's Kanto outfit was blue because...idk, to make him look separate from Red? Otherwise, his other outfits were mostly blue like the male players, though Ash's clothes has some differences.
What I think they might do for the Sword and Shield anime is make it so Ash's shirt has more white, similar to the B&W outfit. Why didn't I do that for this pic? I was lazy, lol.
