Description Hello!

It must have been ages since I last posted anything.

80% Photoshop, except for the jet and some others.

It's 6 AM and I've spent the last 2 hours on this non-stop. It feels so good to be back using PS after 6 months, even if it's just mindless fiddling.

Why "Patch Work"? The more observant of my long time fans (if any are still around, that is) should be able to figure that one out in no time. Here's a hint; refer to the more popular works of my gallery.

EDIT: Colour saturation +25%. I'll release a WP version if anyone's interested, I've customized a desktop theme with it and I think it's a rather pleasant looking wallpaper.

Still, matte-work or none, it looks amazing and intricate! Keep at it, good to have you back in the saddle.

Detail is just an illusion, easy to pull off once you experiment enough.

It's funny how people are saying "good to have you back"; I like to rather keep things open. No promises, no pressure. Only then will I be able to express myself.

Wow. It looks like a city to me. Just how far down is it to the street? And how long did it take you to create all the pieces of this and put them together? I am not sure I would have the patience to do a project like this...or even the skills, to begin with! This is amazing.

How far? I've no idea.

Like I've mentioned, it's not 3D. The illusion of depth was created in Photoshop, so it's only as deep as you see it fit.

Interestingly, this piece was a considerably quick one compared to my other works. First reason being that it was done in low-res, since I had no intention of releasing it as a print.

Second reason being that, I used a great deal of my past works for the detail here. I then stitch them up and cloned them about. That's why it's called Patch Work.

I guess this is the sequel on The Toy Factory? It reminded me immediately when i saw this piece.

How very astute of you to notice.

I used a similar method of colouring this piece the way I did for "My Toy Factory" too; desaturating the entirety of the piece and adding colour masks according to the brightness.

But no, it's not a sequel, nothing of that sort. "My Toy Factory" was intended to be a self-portrait. This, however, is merely a practice piece, a doodle.

hyperlixir In reply to Psychedelic-Freak [2007-10-10 22:38:57 +0000 UTC]

I uhh, might have exaggerated the 90% Photoshop part a bit.

Though, lots, lots of rotation, distortion and cloning.
