Description
After wandering in a dark void for what felt like ages, Sora wakes up from his trance, guided by a strange, female voice who doesn't even know her own identity, let alone why she's resting in Sora's Heart. Sora himself isn't sure how he got there, or even what he was doing before. But he holds onto the memories he still has, lingering memories of the worlds he's visited and the friends he's made. He can feel it in his Heart, he's needed somewhere, so he ventures through the Darkness, seeking the Light once more...
Wasteland (Epic Mickey) - The first world Sora finds is one that seemingly doesn't exist, a land of forgotten Toons ruled by a rabbit named Oswald, who's investigating mysterious events that threaten his people. Eager to help out, Sora comes back time and time again to Wasteland, helping Oswald save different areas from strangely corrupted Heartless. On his travels, Sora meets a few lost Hearts in the Darkness, and with no bodies of their own, he brings them to Wasteland in hopes of saving them. In a later visit, a girl in a white dress named Namine has found her way to the forgotten kingdom, and seeks to help Sora revive his memories.
"This king and queen both seem quite friendly. Still, it bothers me, being in a world meant for those who lost their Hearts, and are forgotten by everyone else. I do hope this place is at least nice to spend eternity in."
Hyrule (Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom) - Emerging into a familiar kingdom, Sora finds himself called to by the land's hero, Link, who recognizes Sora as a friend. Hyrule has undergone an upheaval and Princess Zelda is missing. With Link searching for Zelda, he entrusts Sora and Paya with helping the four regions of Zora, Gerudo, Rito, and Goron. After fighting off the region's threats and uniting the Sages of each race, Sora and company fought off the Corruption in the Demon King's Heart, as Link slayed the king and reunited with Zelda, but Riju had mysteriously vanished. With Hyrule still in need of them, Link and the others trust Sora to find Riju.
"So this is Link? Hm, he’s every bit as brave as you described, Sora. He must have quite a bit of faith in you to trust you with the safety of these regions’ people. Now, who will we assist first?"
Starfall Islands (Sonic Frontiers) - On a familiar world, Sora met a young rabbit named Cream, who followed Sonic and friends to the mysterious Starfall Islands. Upon finding Sonic, they learned that Amy, Tails, and Knuckles were all trapped in Cyberspace, and Sonic's efforts were hindered by a mysterious girl made of Data named Sage. As Sora and Cream made their way through the islands looking through Sonic's memories and facing his metal doppelganger, they realized Sage was more than just a piece of data, and helped her understand the bonds between friends and family. In the face of a greater Darkness, Sora and Cream teamed up with Sage and Metal to save the world from destruction, or something even worse. After saving Mobius, Sora finds a girl resting in the Darkness between worlds, and brings her back to Wasteland, learning that she is named Strelitzia, and she comes from a world long lost...
"I can see a great deal of innocence in both Cream and Sage, but they’re different types. One understands the feelings in her Heart perfectly, and follows them to her friends. The other… Well, the other has a lot to learn…"
Castlevania (Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow) - Wandering a chaotic castle, Sora reunites with a friend named Soma Cruz, who has been brought to the castle by Corruption's worshippers so he can lose his Heart to evil. Teaming up with Soma's friends Mina and Yoko, Sora set out after Soma to help him overcome this cult, purify Castlevania of its evil, and prove Soma has a choice in who he can be. When all is said and done, Sora sees a girl wandering into the castle's clocktower, and follows her, resulting in a duel as the girl fears losing her identity once more. When Sora is about to ask who she is, but seeing her face, he gets his answer. Xion.
"What kind of monster would try to force such a kind boy into such a wretched fate? Well, at least it worked out in the end. Sort of. Soma’s going to need quite a bit of practice before he can control a whole castle of madness. But I’m sure he’s up to it."
Makai (Darkstalkers) - After nearly getting lured into a mysterious Majigen by the equally mysterious Lilith, Sora finds himself stranded in the Demon World of Makai, where he meets a slew of Darkstalkers including Felicia, Jon Talbain, humanity's queen and king, and his old friend Morrigan Aensland, who reveals to Sora that he's actually become a Darkstalker himself at some point. After processing this, Sora decides to help the Darkstalkers in any way he can as their world and the human world are threatened by the Majigen and its creator. Along the way, Sora meets Lilith again, realizing that she and Morrigan share a connection, so he decides to help them become whole once more. On a repeated visit, Sora has a surprise duel with an old adversary who's found new existence in Makai, Vanitas.
"I understand learning this must be world-shaking, Sora, but Darkness is as inherently evil as Light, which is to say it isn’t. In your Heart, Light and Darkness coincide peacefully… Oh sorry, I guess the giant moon ominously looming in the starless sky gets me sentimental."
Protector's Grave (Madou Monogatari) - Stumbling upon a land of fantasy and Puyo Puyos, Sora meets a mage named Arle Nadja who's been combatting all sorts of oddities lately, from a dark sorcerer who seems to be losing himself to a Doppelganger that's been taken by Corruption. With Sora's assistance, Arle is able to free Schezo Wegey from the evil puppeteering his Heart and give her Doppelganger peace of mind by becoming one with her again. Just as he's about to leave, Sora is pulled into the Darkness once more by a familiar face, it's Riku! But... it's not?
"Lilith the Protector. I feel like I’ve met her before. Could it be that girl in Makai? No, no, it’s a different Lilith. Maybe she’s a friend? I’m sorry, Sora, I’ve been sleeping for ages, my memory is slightly, possibly, definitely shot."
Master's Legacy (Mega Man Legends) - Yet another familiar world, Sora finds himself swept up in another of the Bonne's treasure hunts, but things take a turn when Mega Man Volnutt and Roll show up, following a strange woman they seem to recognize. This search escelates into a full-on threat to their world, so Mega Man, Roll, Tron, and Sora unite to get to the bottom of it and save their worlds' people from erasure. After uncovering the truth of their world, putting the conflict to rest, and returning back to Earth, Mega Man, Roll, and the Bonnes are horrified to find that Tron had vanished, and urge Sora to figure out where she went. Remembering what happened with Riju, Sora begins to see a pattern...
"Humanity isn’t described by flesh, it’s described by emotion, morality, and individuality. I don’t remember where I heard or read that from, but I’m sure it was from something smart. Don’t worry, Sora, we’ll find Tron and the others. I believe in you."
Remnant (RWBY) - Sora finds a strange land under a broken moon, overrun with Grimm and Corrupted Heartless. This is Remnant, home to Team RWBY, who Sora has met, clashed with, and befriended on past adventures. Upon meeting the team once again, their leader Ruby asks for Sora's help with their goal, to summon Kingdom Hearts Light to kill Salem and her Grimm. While initially unsure, Sora agrees after seeing the carnage Salem has brought to Remnant, seeing that she'll spread this destruction further if not stopped. Working with Team RWBY and their allies, Sora links to the Princesses of Heart he met on his journey, and while holding back Salem's wrath, finds that Ruby is the final Princess they're searching for. With a world of pure Light at their side, Sora and Ruby slay Salem once and for all, eliminating the Grimm. Kingdom Hearts Light mysteriously vanishes afterwards.
"You’ve butted heads with these Huntresses before? Hm, I couldn’t tell. It looks like they’ve buried that hatchet deep. It bothers me that they got this desperate. Hopefully, we can help them end this. Well, hopefully you can. I’m not exactly capable in this state. Sorry."
Crystal Tokyo (Sailor Moon) - Winding up in the world of the Sailor Scouts, Sora finds that Sailor Moon has gone missing. With both her fellow Sailor Scouts and the Mysterious Voice worried sick, Sora aids them as they follow a path to the Planet Nemesis, where Usagi is being held. However, when they arrive, they find that she's mostly turned the Black Moon Clan to her side, and Sora finds some familiar (and even familial) people from his past have been taken there as well, including Riju and Tron. After managing to get through to the prince of the clan, Sora helps Usagi bring forth Kingdom Hearts Dark, as the Mysterious Voice says it holds the key to Sailor Moon's full power. Once it's revealed, a fight with Chaos Blot breaks out, after which Usagi purifies Planet Nemesis, making peace between the Black Moon Clan and Earth. After making sure his friends and family will be okay, Sora sets off to check up on Wasteland once more, as Kingdom Hearts Dark mysteriously vanishes...
"Kingdom Hearts… Black Moon Clan… Sailor Scouts… Silver Millennium… Sailor Moon… Why are these all… so familiar? Why did I know where that crystal was sealed? Looking at Sailor Moon felt like looking in a mirror… Huh? Oh, uh, I’m sorry, Sora, I just… I need a moment…"
Extra Worlds
Diamond City (WarioWare) - While exploring, Sora returns to the world where he met quite a few oddballs, including Wario, who has his own video game company and is holding a microgame tournament with a grand prize. Sora eagerly enters, and between rounds, meets Wario's employees, Ashley and Penny most notably taking an interest in his Keyblade. While Penny researches the extent of Sora's weapon's abilities, Ashley offers to help uncloud Sora's memories, but she can't quite dig deep enough to find all the answers. When Wario withholds the prize to the tournament, Sora decides to show him the Keyblade's abilities as well, so-to-speak.
"Well, this group of characters are certainly… eccentric. Yes, eccentric, the perfect word to describe what we are currently witnessing. You’ve been to this world before, right? I’m a bit hesitant to ask what your last escapade here was like."
Spooky Street (Spooky Month) - Sora finds a neighborhood celebrating Halloween, and helps a woman named Lila find her son and his friend when they wander off. After saving them from the Heartless, Sora is invited to take part in the festivities. Playing games, making food, fighting off Heartless and Grimm, and eventually having to find Skid and Pump again when they chase after a Heartless. Seeing Skid and Pump's friendship, Lila's concern, and all the festivities seems to awaken some memories in Sora...
"It’s really sweet how Lila cares for her child. Kind of makes me wish I had a child to protect… Hm… Sora, you miss your parents too, right? I’m sure we’ll find them. In the meantime, maybe I could be… uh, nevermind, it’s too awkward. My apologies."
Sequin Land (Shantae) - Sora meets a Half-Genie named Shantae, who's fighting off Heartless in Scuttle Town. As it turns out, an enemy of hers, the Pirate Queen Risky Boots, has been using the Heartless to seek out the Keyhole to their world, so she can hold it ransom for control of Sequin Land. Being something of a pirate himself, Sora decides to help Shantae and her friends seek out the Keyhole and stop Risky Boots. A mysterious but familiar ship, the Leviathan, rises for Sora to use as he and his new crew set out across the seas to liberate the world from Risky's hold.
"Wow, you really do seem at home on this ship, don’t you, Sora? I guess everyone has their own dreams. Honestly, being able to see so much of the world feels so liberating, like I’ve been itching to see something new for so long. Maybe you’re rubbing off on me."
Joey Drew Studios (Bendy and the Dark Revival) - In a mysterious animation studio, Sora reunites with a little Toon devil named Bendy, who's hanging out with a woman named Audrey. However, as Sora helps them explore the studio, he learns that there's more to both Bendy and Audrey than he thought. Being in a twisted realm of Toons brings some old memories back to Sora, of a king Oswald mentioned, and a pair of Toons Sora seemed to know well. This journey ends with Sora facing off against a Darkness welling Bendy's Heart, in hopes of helping Audrey free him and everyone else in the studio, or at least show them peace.
"Toons? The term is vaguely familiar, but not by much. I guess they need fans to give themselves Hearts, so they can, you know, exist. I know what you’re thinking, Sora, and I’m thinking the same. Can the Toons in Wasteland be given a Heart? Can Bendy? I guess we’ll have to put a pin in that for later."
Foundation Prime (Lego Dimensions) - Sora comes across a mysterious dimension unknown to many, but connected to all. Here, he faces recreations of friends, foes, and the like from other worlds he's seen, and runs into an angelic trio who encourage him to keep going, all while telling him the story of this place and the mad man who perished there. Sora even draws connections between the story and a tower he previously visited. After taking on every trial, Sora's power awakens the spirit of this deceased dimensional lord, instigating one last fight.
"He sought perfection and it led him and his people to oblivion. At least he’ll finally know peace now. The feeling of seeing everything you know crumble, it cuts deep. I can’t imagine how it feels if you’re the one who caused it."
Final World
Finality (???) - Driven to desperation by Sora's meddling with both their plans, the Heart of Corruption has obtained a new form from merging with the Master of Masters. After gathering all of his memories, bidding farewell to his friends, fighting his way through memories of Corruption's previous conquests, and summoning the X-Blade that was trusted to him by none other than Xehanort, Sora goes to face the Master Blot itself. On his way, he feels the two halves of Kingdom Hearts drawing close to his location, and close to each other. After everything she's seen, the Mysterious Voice that's been following and supporting Sora this whole time begins to finally realize who she is and makes herself seen to Sora as he approaches this final battle.
"Sora, I’ve been following you through this whole adventure, and honestly, I feel like a link in a never ending chain that binds every world to each other. Uh, in a good way, I mean. Sorry, you’re literally the only source of conversation I’ve had in eons. I think I’m getting a grasp on my old memories, but it’s a slow process. Let’s just keep going, fighting the ultimate evil comes first."
