So I recently adopted a character from 's Neko adopts, the Hoodie Neko to be precise, but I wasn't entirely sure what to do with her at the time. Eventually (and conveniently) enough, for Halloween Hypnofest 2019, I decided to define the character. So I went with the idea of this cat being more on the back end of magic, as a seller of potions just trying to get by in a world where mystics and monsters are the norm. The name Noir felt like the best fit for her. At the time of uploading this, her debut piece has not been shown, but soon you will see Noir and her traveling potion shop! Enjoy!

Name: Noir

Aliases/Nicknames: None

Age: unclear (supposedly her initial age as a cat was 2 years, but her current form may have changed her true age and life expectancy)

Personality: Quick witted, a fast talker, sly, lazy at times, likes being paid, can be impish, a bit of a swindler and can be prone to her animal instincts.

Likes: Fish, money, haggling, being left alone on her shop's off hours.

Dislikes: Being swindled herself, homelessness, difficult customers, being bothered on her off days, and artichokes.

Background: Noir wasn't always as you see her now, originally she was only a normal cat, adopted by a kind wizard to be his familiar. Even as a regular feline, Noir was rather intelligent (whether that was from being exposed to magic for so long or if it was natural is unclear), able to understand speech and procure ingredients for potions and elixirs in a way others couldn't. She became quite the essential companion and assistant to the wizard who cared for her very much. One day, a great war among magic users erupted and all wizards and mages were called to fight off the witches and warlocks, even Noir's master. Despite his protest, Noir sneaked into the Wizards bag as he went off to fight on the front lines. This terrible battle claimed the lives of many magic users...and Noir's master was gravely injured in the battle. Realizing his dear friend had joined him, the Wizard used the last of his strength for one final spell, he gave Noir a more human form with sentience to match it and told her to live her life freely before passing on. Crushed by this loss, Noir fled into hiding until the war ended. Now alone and homeless, Noir only had her wit and cunning to help her. All who she begged to turned her away, those with food and shelter denied her, she was too poor for them to take pity on. With these lessons on the streets she slowly learned to pickpocket money from the wealthy and from fellow street urchins learned how to swindle and con those. With what little she had, she was able to buy food, but that day she knew what had to be done. In order to stay on top in this cruel world, you need money and in order to get money you need a service people would pay for...and what better than the one thing she knew best, potions? Eventually making use of an old magic carriage (one that's bigger on the inside than the outside), Noir began to gather up potions, tonics, and elixirs to sell to the magical community. "Noir's Traveling Potion Shop" would go from town to town, with its enthusiastic sales woman having all the odds and ends for anyone's mystical needs. Open for business, Noir can sell you what you need with enough time and money...but just don't expect a refund if the potion turns out to be faulty.

Side note: Though Noir mostly seems like a con artist who's only got eyes for wealth, there are rumors that she secretly heard about a special item that can revive the dead. It may be that her lust for cash is to find and buy that rare item to revive her master. Only time will tell though.
