Description
Пуск! A Mikoyan Gurevich MiG-21Bis fires a R-60M (AA-8 Aphid) missile. I just LOVE flying the MiG-21 in DCS World. It's such a fun little jet that allows you to do anything from dogfights to delivering tactical nuclear ordnance in game. It took me months to learn the controls and to learn how to fight properly in this jet but it's all worth it! Taking the fishbed into battle and coming out alive is a very rewarding experience indeed!Although there is an interesting story behind this screenshot. This shot was captured during an intercept mission where I had to take on two A-10As escorted by a F-4 Phantom. The Phantom was easy; flying low meant its radar couldn't track me against the ground clutter and a quick zoom climb and R-60M launch pictured in this screenshot took care of the Phantom. But taking on a Phantom was easy compared to taking on the A-10 later on. The engagement started with me firing a radar guided R-3R at the A-10 from beyond visual range, which successfully scored a hit and led me to believe the A-10 has been shot down. That was until it kept flying and merged with me and I could see it only sustained some damage to the right wing . I then proceeded to fire a second missile which also successfully scored a hit . But the A-10 kept flying; and I was out of missiles and gun ammo at that point thanks to the earlier engagement with the F-4 Phantom. And so I had to resort to the good old Taran tactics of ramming the fuck out of the A-10 , which finally worked . Man, don't fuck with A-10s; they're real tough mean bastards!

Definitely! Though the controls and procedures themselves are simple, learning how to perform them effectively and quickly in combat took a lot of time. And loading up a nuke or a SPS-141 jammer also added a nuclear arming panel or EW panel onto the canopy bow that also took time to learn to use. The flight dynamics changes carried forward by updates also didn't help with learning to fly the bird properly. But once you get to the point where you can challenge F-15Cs on multiplayer, it's a very rewarding experience indeed!
Have you tried flying in DCS World before? I highly recommend it! We can even fly together!

Combat flying isn't really my thing
I exclusively fly rotary wing in DCS World for now...until the beloved Aero Vodochody L-39ZA comes out
