Description Whee! Haven't made a game in a long time. Although, this is more of a toy, really. Hope you like it!

Hehe. I've switched over to Flixel for my current project, though. It's just more complete than the engine I made, and I'd rather make a fun game than code I can brag about.

Oh really?
I'm using Flixel aswell (well the programmer is) and it's pretty "easy".

Care to tell me about your project?

Um, it's a game about a paranoid princess who thinks her knight in shining armor is cheating on her, and weight management. And you can punch boulders. It took me a week to make 80% of the game, and now me and a friend are going to make a few tweaks to the graphics, add menus, and balance the gameplay a bit more, and then it should be out.

Oh god.
This sounds freakin' awesome.

Are you gonna "sell" it to a game site?

how did you learn flash

Trial and error, tutorials, articles, looking at other people's sources, other programming languages, time and effort.

cool
where do you find people who actually give out sources
its hard to find

I'd really suggest looking into Flixel if you know a bit about Actionscript 3 already. On the home page of the game engine, there's 5 games with fully documented source code (on the left side of the page), and there's plenty of other documentation as well to help you with making games on the site/forums there.

You won't be able to (legally) get any of the source code for any commercially released Flash game, but you can find code snippets all over the web. This guy's blog has a lot of stuff: [link]

That's really epic! Love the pixel effects and the music. What method do you use to achieve the 2x resolution in Flash?

I use BitmapData objects.

What is the relationship between NG and dA? Not that having two sources for the the same game isn't nice, as is the game. Great job!

More people seeing the stuff I do, probably. Also, the audiences are slightly different, so I get different reactions from each. For example, most of the people on NG didn't realize that Titch's Adventure was a joke, unlike on dA. Maybe it was too close to normal NG submissions for them to figure it out.

One thing that you should do is allow the player to save and load their maps. Not to be picky or anything; just thought that would be a nice feature.

This is incredible. If you give the player the ability to place objects, powerups, enemies, etc. you could actually create a make-your-own-platformer.
I can't believe none of the mainstream gaming companies have come up with this idea.

Ooh, I so wanted to do that too. But I decided to leave it all artsy instead. HOWEVER, I can certainly make a make-your-own platformer for a future game.

Thanks.

My general goal is to improve my game-making ability (this was made in 3 days).

It didn't hurt that I used a game engine I've been working on for the past 2 months. ._.
