Description Made with a combination of Photoshop and Flash cs3.

The Lion King copied a great deal off Kimba: The White Lion. And even if you like The Lion King better, even if they were originally going to make a 'tribute,' they never asked for permission and never credited Tezuka Inc. for the theft they never apologized for.

You can be a fan of TLK and not have the guilty conscious trying to justify a wrong Disney did. But don't try and deny it. That's what lets these things happen over and over again. Instead, be happy that Kimba was around to "inspire" Disney.

For more about the Kimba v. Simba debate, there's a really outdated website over here .

P.S. I will never disable comments just because people disagree with me. Feel free to voice your opinions.

A biased fan watched something accused of being stolen and decided they hated it. Big shocker, that. Even if the stories are different, a huge amount of similarities exist, too many to be coincidental. Anyone who thinks they are coincidental are self-deluded by confirmation bias.

Not really. I gave it a chance. I was actually told by the lion king community that Kimba was a good series. Many in the TLK world like Kimba. I see things for myself before making a decision, however.

You are self-deluded in your own way, by the way. you too are following a cult following, and are making arguments in passion to that which they love. You are arguing just as I am arguing... Because you like it.

I'm not a fan of Kimba or TLK. I just can see, like anyone who is not clearly deluding themselves, that TLK stole much from Kimba, then never gave any credit.

It's funny how how these fans are so much in denial and even more sad when they try to trash Kimba

i-stamp In reply to Kellodrawsalot [2011-04-25 21:47:19 +0000 UTC]

Even funnier, like I said earlier, when TLK fans who don't know any better watch Kimba and are like "Man, what a TLK rip-off!" but then when they're told Kimba is far older they're like "Oh...they're not that similar."

And I won't even go into how some fans go apeshit if someone has the same paw markings as their oh-so-special-snowflake TLK OC.

Yep when I see TLK fantards who are so in denial of the whole Disney Coppied Kimba I am not surprised to look into their galleries to see how they copied TLK characters to make their own oh-so-creative-oc's.

Yeah... I still don't get those that say "TLK WUZ JUST A BIG COPIE OF KIMBA IT SUX"
because it is a little different. Pretty similar, but it had differences.

TLK was supposed to be a remake/tribute animated film of Kimba the White Lion. Disney denied that later on when Roy Disney and several people that worked on the movie before said otherwise. It's not a copy but a form of tribute and lots TLK deny this fact and to some point even INSULT and bash Kimba the White Lion despite the fact that without Kimba there would never be The Lion king in the first place.

I watched both Kimba and TLK and the similarities are pretty strong. I also love TLK but I am not going to deny facts.

I know! It's funny cause a TLK fan told me the concept art is just a fake-fan art when I told him it was on the dvd he responded with just: Okay
lol

....denial? =/ I thought this whole thing was common knowledge... I still enjoy the Lion King despite its obvious influences, as they're both different enough to be enjoyed separately. Even the artists that worked on the project were told they were making aKimba movie =/

Yes. As a cartoon fan I love both of them I only dislike the creators of Tlk for lying about the inspiration and the TLK fantards who deny or bash Kimba,

are you stupid? I am saying I do not like the Lion King fans who bash Kimba and act as if without Simba LION king would still exist.

Hence its okay to dislike or even hate Kimba but dont forget without Kimba there would be no Simba.

well the concept of the Lion King shows that the originally Simba was named Kimba, was a white lion and lived in the Jungle, ( normaly Lions do not live in the Jungle in Tezuka's manga Kimba got there by accident. )
Second the voice actor for adult Simba claimed he was first told the movie was going to be a remake
A REMAKE of an old Japanese cartoon series.

Geez I wonder how I would come to that conclusion?

Thats pretty much how I feel about it XD It's really not a matter of opinion, this is pretty factual.

Gabalot In reply to Kellodrawsalot [2011-04-25 18:34:39 +0000 UTC]

I'm not denying facts. I know they are very much the same.
I think we should let the arguement rest now. What's done is done. We can't go back in time and tell Disney to not make TLK.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

i-stamp In reply to Gabalot [2011-04-25 21:46:01 +0000 UTC]

But we could ask Disney to apologize for lying about never having seen Kimba and give credit where credit is due.

There are enough similarities that I doubt TLK would have been recognizable had Kimba not been made. And it always gives me a great big smile when TLK fans who don't know any better watch Kimba and are like "Man, what a TLK rip-off!" but then when they're told Kimba is far older they're like "Oh...they're not that similar."

And I won't even go into how some fans go apeshit if someone has the same paw markings as their oh-so-special-snowflake TLK OC.

This is fucking awesome.

At least you don't disable comments unlike some tlk fans...

I like TLK and Kimba but yes TLK was supposed to be a remake of Kimba various people like Roy Disney and Voice actor of Simba admitted that during the making of the film. It's a sad thing they changed and denied the inspiration and there was no reason for it. No one would complain if they just added a tiny little text: tribute to Osamu Tezuka's Kimba the White Lion.
