Description

-The sun is hot, the sand is hotter. An endless wasteland of sand and rock. No sign of life be it plant, animal, or civilization. How did you get here? Something about a space bridge? Brought here by an old Seeker. Old scrap pile should've stayed in the Museum. Now you're on a quest to find the Dagger's Tip. You stop to attempt a rest in the shade of a rock formation, and when you think you can relax, you feel it. The sand starts to shift, as if the ground itself is moving. An earthquake? No. It's a steady rhythm; in fours. Then comes the sound that one would never expect to hear in the middle of nowhere, the horrid shriek of grinding metal. The creaking and banging of metal on metal. But the worst was the sound that followed, a loud, guttural roar, like an animal....but bigger. WAY bigger. As you attempt to locate its origins, you first see the large plums of smoke and steam...and shortly after, you see it: The Metal Behemoth. Massive front limbs, big but slightly smaller hind legs, and the body is huge and thick, covered in moving gears and tubes and pistons, like a factory on legs. The multiple glowing eyes focus on you, and slowly its mouth opens. Then opens more. Wider....and wider, like a snake dislocating its jaw to swallow large prey. From within it starts to glow, and blades and grinders start to rotate and smash together within its now massive, open maw. The sand starts to lift off the ground and into the mechanical vortex, and slowly you too, can feel the pull.-

-It's already too late.-

Now HERE is a character I never thought we'd get a model of, but here we are! Now I'm very back and forth on Michael Bay's rendition of the Constructicon Combiner, Devastator. First off, yes, right off the bat one can tell, he's not like the original Devastator from G1. He's more of a mechanical animal, and never speaks. In the movie, I loved his combination sequence. The vehicles forming his limbs, and slowly revealing the monster that was, Devastator. I like his design as well. A massive, quadrupedal Transformer in the battle for the Matrix of Leadership and the activation of the Harvester, he would've made a worthy opponent for ALL the Autobots to team up and fight against, instead of the army of "generic" Decepticons and copies of Constructicons who died easily.

Sadly, because the CG model created by ILM (Industrial Light and Magic) for the character was so big and was made of 52,632 geometric pieces and 11,716,127 polygons (fun fact he's made up of 6467 total textures, taking up 32 gigabytes of computer space) and damn near blew one of their computers, he got very little screentime. Such a waste that this metal kaiju, got a small fight scene with two characters most people forget even exist, and then destroys a pyramid, only to get blasted to death by a "Rail Gun". Well with the live action TF franchise being rebooted, perhaps we'll get an official Combiner fight in the near future.
