i'm not offended or scared, more intriqued... like what is happening in the photo? is her taking out the piercings some kind of symbollic action to go along with what the speaker is saying...? what is he preaching about??

Please clarify - this is unposed? This is a spontaneous grab shot?

Hopelessness? I see something more like stigmata. Faith perhaps? A release into accepting what is? More Hopeful than Hopeless.

I guess that's my own bias showing through. A beautiful shot, though, dearest Katia (I *still* say your name when I type it or read it...)

Hmm me wishes being there and hearing what the preacher has to say before condemning the vile act against her flesh (poor flesh, poor ostricized piercings) another strong image to awake me oh well off to bed (as per usual your works have a light bath that amazes me this one is tetric

so i take it you didn't like my latest cat photo?

impactful? yeah, a little. i don't get much from this image, to be honest.

i thought of you a few hours ago... took a different path home from work today. on the other side of the tracks.. literally. it's amazing how different life is over there. so much poverty. i took a few photos but not many. just a few churches with my holga for a series i want to do. as soon as i get a film camera suitable for street (not the holga or yashica) i will be frequenting that part of town. not going to use my 20D over there. it's just amazing at how "real" everythig feels and how photogenic everyone and everything feels on that side of the tracks.

anyway...

very cool.......
seriously i lived that, i spent years in the upstate new york ghettos of rochester.
it's real and gritty like metal scraping on your teeth. but you have to
become that yourself i think to a certain extent. you have to
be natural and comfortable in that element to really
get the kind of photos that will truly capture
the essence of those places.
that's definitely part of your task.

this photo of mine here, i like it. i feel such a spiritual exhaustion from her - a surrendering and a hopelessness.
and then the words from fight club come wafting in..losing all hope was freedom..
so, with all that in my mind, it's more potent.

i will be fine. i'm good at fitting into places. just need to be safe and not bring anything extra with me.. just in case shit does go down.

Fight club...Less people get what they should out of that book.

And this photo. Is powerful.
He does look like a pacing, hungry animal. OR a vulture. Waiting for that beast to die, to lose that last breath of hope, independence. Putting all faith in the cycle of life, death, and renewal.

I like this. A lot

i keep forgetting how sensitive some people are. sorry.
but i really like this photo. i think it's quite powerful.
i've been debating for a time on whether or not to share it.
i think i find myself a bit bored with a lot of what i see here
and now i'm feeling like pushing the envelope a bit.

and it doesn't bother me to see this. at all.

so..

sweet dreams baby..
