Description
The Abrahamic religions are like three squabbling spiteful brothers: Judaism is the eldest self-absorbed sibling, Christianity is the mean-spirited middle child, and Islam is the youngest spoiled brat acting out because it's insecure and craves attention.

For all the conflict that exists between these religions, the reality is that they are all just three sides of the same triangle. The religions are separated by differences in culture and variations of the mythology, but are ultimately nevertheless the same damn religion. Christians, Muslims, and Jews all worship the same god; they just call it different names, and considering the historical age difference between the three faiths the controversial relationship between them can indeed be likened to a type of sibling rival.

Having been founded around the 1st millennium BCE, Judaism is the oldest sibling. I describe Judaism as being self-absorbed, because unlike Christian and Muslim extremists Jewish extremists seldom seem to be as problematic toward people outside of their specific faith. I've both dealt with and heard many horror stories about overzealous Christians and Muslims, and thus can speak many evils of both religions however I have heard much less about Judaism and as such cannot really think of much bad to say about the faith; however I realize that region and culture play a large part in these conflicts, and while Jewish fanaticism does not appear to be as great in the southern portion of the United States it is indeed quite great in other parts of the world. In reality, Jewish extremism is just as narrow-minded and barbaric as Christianity and Islam, but with regards to my personal experiences with the religion it seems fairly self-contained, or (as personified in this cartoon) "self-absorbed".

At about 2,000 years old; founded around the 1st century CE, Christianity is the second brother; the middle child. Once upon a time Christianity was the spoiled youngest, but is no longer. With neither the "maturity" of the oldest child nor the favorably attention of the youngest, most middle children tend to become rebellious and problematic; sometimes lashing out at both the older and younger siblings. This seems to fit the collective mindset of Christian extremism. When I likened Christianity to a mean-spirited middle child, I was largely referring to that period of history where Christianity spread across the globe like a plague leaving death, destruction, genocide, slavery, and oppression in it's wake. While all three religions have caused no end of pain and suffering down through the ages, it would certainly seem that Christianity was the most ambitious reaching much further and causing far more damage than its brothers.

Lastly, founded around the 7th century CE, Islam is the youngest of the three major Abrahamic religions, and like any young child is prone to juvenile fits and tantrums when things don't quite go its way. Islam does not control as much as its older brothers and like in any sibling rivalry being the youngest gets picked on and mistreated regularly by its elder siblings. This makes Islam more insecure and prone to violent retaliation against its brothers. It desires to match and/or surpass its siblings to prove that its ideology is better than that which came before it, but as can clearly be seen from a cultural analysis of the current regions where Islam is strongest and researching the history of the other two religions we merely see the same pattern of bigotry, genocide, and oppression emerge making Islam little different and no better than its brothers. I particularly likened Islam to being a spoiled brat not simply because of its age, but because of the utterly infantile acts of the Muslim extremists who plague the faith (i.e. killing cartoonists because they draw caricatures of their illiterate prophet).

While there were any number of ways I could have characterized these religious avatars in this cartoon, I chose this idea because at the time the scene popped in my head and I found it a funny way to depicted the silliness of the controversy between the faiths and each of their obvious fallacies. In the future, I may do more cartoons depicting their illogical rivalry, but for now this is what I've got.
