Description A Gue'vesa is a human who has, through capture or being raised in Tau territories, cast aside his loyalty to the Imperium (the government of the Empire) in favor of the Greater Good. These folk are usually granted entire colonies to build Human communities, and, as Humans usually are, Gue'vesa (literally "Human Helper") are ferocious warriors. Entire Cadres (about company-sized forces) are made up of Gue'vesa's, and have distinguished themselves in combat, making them respected members of Tau society.

In this particular scene, we see a Gue'vesa in Tau armor with Tau equipment pleading with his Imperial Guard counterparts to lay down thier arms and surrender thier doomed defensive position before it's demolished by Hammerhead tanks. As long as a Commissar (morale officer responsible for maintaining the strictest dicipline among troops-- commonly known for getting field-execution-happy during times of duress) doesn't come along, such displays of courtesy would succeed. The white stripes on the Imperial Guardsmen's helmets mark them to be conscripts, who would naturally want to fight even less than a regularly enlisted soldier, and would likely surrender to the Human Tau soldier.

I wouldn't hesitate to surrender if i am a conscript...it's a pretty damn good deal....if they don't and SOMEHOW manage to escape, they still may be shot by the comissar for not Dying for the emperor or some crazy shiz

Like hell they would. Sorry to say it partner, but you drew the wrong group of "Conscripts" Into existence for that. Those are Cadian White Shields, aka the white stripe. They are gonna shoot first and ask questions later.

Human in Tau controlled territory are still allowed to practice imperial faith so long as it doesn't interfere with the Greater Good. The Tau are just too nice is such a dark and grim future.

the Tau are the good guys, they don't want to kill everybody

however they are fully capable of stomping anyone they don't like into the ground

so be liked for the greater good and your own good

i dunno but you seem to forget to factor in all the life long idealogical indoctrination Imperial Soliders go through

and White shields are no exception since they pretty much spent their whole childhood since birth in the guard and since they're young they're usually very idealistic when it comes to the Imperial creed

God Emperor! That fool is breaching Art.6741/09a.

Heresy against the Emperor, which the punishment is death by removing of his extremities and left to bleed to death for the Emperor's amusement, then burnt to insure no taint is left.

"How they can they ignore the greater good" Tau is the only race in warhammer 40K that gives they enemies like this guardmens the chance to join them.

When you read more about the Tau theres sort of a heirarchy. Humans may not be treated socially or economically inferior but the you blue skins the humans are throw aways

Well, they're pretty lucky compared to the Imperium treatment of "Purge first, ask question and be executed for asking questions".

Now see the Inquisition will purge you quickly to make sure the heresy doesnt spread. The Tau pretty much treat the humans like Hitler treats the Jews

From what I can tell, that's only the worst case scenario. Otherwise they live semi-decent lives on some planets while certain planets are prone to the standard Sterilization and Concentration Camp bit. It varies on where they live.

Its kind of the other way around, Tau are communists, everyone works towards one common goal, the Greater Good. When humans are accepted into Tau culture, they are recognized as allies, just like the Kroot and Vespid. But when the humans find Tau by them selves, the humans kill them.

While that may be true, you humans can just replace them. We, however cannot just replace every dead Firewarrior. For every Tau, there is at least 10,000 humans in the galaxy, no exaggeration.

Those Guardsmen look pretty shocked to see another human, who quite possibly at one time have been a collegue of theirs, adorned in Fire Warrior armour and asking them to surrender.

Awesome pic.

They'd be makin the right choice, my good sir. Although I would have to say, my experience with conscripts has shown them to be much more effective than you'd think. Stick an Independent Commissar with a group of 30, and those boys can hold their flank.

Ian-Bradley In reply to CommissarKinyaf [2006-11-12 13:14:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I know. I've lost many a good Space Marine or Fire Warrior to such a unit-- however, get some marksmen in there, and that Commisar goes down quick unless he's behind good cover, then it's just a matter of waiting for the morale to break...

...that, and it's a fluff pic.
