Description
Some art I did for a cyberpunk CCG. A riot control mech launching tear gas canisters into a crowd of angry protesters. Not trying to make a political statement here, just going with the design brief. Hope you like and feel free to drop some comments or crits or just say "wassup" in the comments section.-Ian

Do you mean the design of the picture is weak? Or that images with a political message are stronger? Just curious, I don't really understand.

No, the pic's good, political messages aren't really necessary here. I'm saying that the mech design in weak, have you seen Robocop? There was a bipedal mech there too and it couldn't walk the stairs or stand up once it fell on the ground...I still like the design because it's a classic though

Honestly I think robots with wheels or tank treads are the direction we will go in the "real" future. But then again, maybe bipedal robots are a self-fulfilling prophecy, all those future engineers growing up watching anime (not my idea, Otacon said it in MGS).
Thanks

well, wheeled bots are easyer to make (since they have a better and easily mobile), but they do work on bipedal models...

walkers have a strategic place on the world stage , its likely that both lines will be developed and deployed side by side

mainly the use of walkers is for something more visually intimidating and for better obstacle removal, as a walker is able to push against an object with more force than a wheeled machine, though its overland speed is lower
another possible use of walker drones is for climbing and jumping , areas in which wheeled vehciles are not at all suited towards

well, that depends on what kind of walker we're dealing with. if the walker is just a walking box, then it'd have more trouble with pushing obstacles, but if we talk about a mech (Future Cops type mech) then yeah, those'd be good. now I'm not sure if it'd be stronger than a wheeled machine though, it also depends on the hydraulics and wheel-drive.

well a wheel drive can't really push in the same way as a walker that can dig in, but a tracker vehicle may be able to push simply because of its weight

honestly, I was mostly refering to a tracker (if that's the one that's like a tank)(pardon my english, I don't have many ways of practicing it)
