From the N.E.L.A. FFF™ New Designers' Fashion Show
Model: Mike U.
Fashion Designer: Leatherwright
This weekend, I was one of the photographers for the New Designers' Fashion Show, at the N.E.L.A. Fetish Fair. It was a very different experience for me, mostly because of the pace that we worked at. These photos are from very quick (<2 minute) shoots with each model, to get a record of each design before they went on the catwalk.
UPDATE Feb 10th, 2009 Oh god! Believe me when I say this was totally, completely unexpected! This image (practically a snapshot at the time) was chosen for my third Daily Deviation.
For more of my favourite works, check out This Collection: "For Your Consideration" .
For some of my best recent works, check out This Collection: "Recent Best" .
Thanks to everyone!

I love this a lot! The whole fetish thing but most of all its the fact that hes not the "typical" model one would expect for a fetish themed shot. And its a lot more expressive than I first thought when I saw the thumbnail. great detail and colour and the balance of the figure is nice to

Thanks. Believe it or not, this is technically a "fashion" shot. I was the pre-runway photographer at a fetish fashion show. I shot something like 40 models in 90 minutes.

It was great, but also a nail-biter. I usually take my time in the studio, that night was completely different. Most of the shots definitely weren't up to my standards, but there were some gems in there I suppose.

What a handsome man... =3 heh, I love the piercing, that is what I call hot! heh heh heh...
Now, more so, it's the intensity. the look, his form, the all around energy. awesome!

The only thing I don't like about this is the nipple ring. For some reason, they creep me out. But I love his eyes. I love this man. I love his stance, I love his lonely expression. I love this!

I really like this because it's not the same old stuff you see all over the place. Congratz on your DD!

Nope, he's Mike U. I'm Ian X. My logo goes on most of my photos on here, so they don't get stolen. (Or if they do, so they are more likely to still lead people back to me.)

i saw this earlier this morning before leaving for class and i have the time to comment now-- i like this photo because not only is this not your typical dA 'sexy fetish grrrl' shot, but the model's expression is such an interesting mixture of amusement and... something else. C: he has very kind eyes, really, and that's what makes this fetish shot amazing for me. kudos, and a well-deserved feature!

Thank you. His eyes definitely show an enigmatic emotion. At the time I snapped the shot, I didn't notice the depth of it. Pretty impressive for a model who ran up and posed for like one minute before being rushed to the catwalk!

Don't pretend to be rude, it's a good portrait, sharp and with natural tones but... a DD? Humm...

I don't think it's my best photo ever, so I kind of see what you are getting at. However, I think most people misunderstand what a DD is. Each DD is not "the best work on DA"-- it's just something a volunteer wanted to feature on a particular day.

Yeah I get it, but as you said, you have several pics that are really DD-deserving. Pics as this one, don't get angry please, are more or less common to see.
I'll never get the DD concept, anyway.

It sounds like you just don't quite understand what a DD is all about. It can be about featuring interesting works, or work by interesting artists, or works that deserve more attention... Or anything else. It's just the Gallery Moderator (or Staff Member's) personal pick of the day. People who get hung up on "this isn't the best artwork ever" are just misunderstanding what a DD is. It's not a gold star or a blue ribbon.

I hope I didn't come across as defensive or pedantic. I see this happen a lot with other DDs, not just my own. I think it's an area I think people could understand better, in general.

I faved so I suppose I must comment now, haha.
While I can't say that I dig the piercing, I do really like the shot. I also understand that, while this was for some fasion/alternate clothes thing, I really like the model for it. He basically makes the picture work. He's in an "odd" outfit, but he looks like any regular guy in it... Hmm how better to say. He makes the otherwise odd outfit seem like it could easily be mainstream because of his more gentle look - not to say that he looks gentle, but rather that his eyes look gentle - but at the same time like he's a man not to be reckoned with.
That makes no sense, but... Well I like it and congrats on the DD !

I think I know what you mean. On the one hand, seeing such a normal guy creates a contrast that makes the image more unusual. On the other hand, him being an average joe grounds the image in reality, which makes it more personal.
Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!

Congrats on your DD today.
I think I saw this guy at the walmart yesterday
and they kicked him out because of no shirt/no shoes policy.....
So many good photos go unseen until they get to a DD award.
This site is so big I really appreciate the DD awards to go deeper
into an artists gallery.

I agree. Personally, I wish one of my personal favourites might have been chosen. However, a lot of those images already get more attention. In terms of what is best for DA, picking an image I'd never think to feature is really cool.
I'm pretty sure this guy doesn't dress like this normally. The guys modeling for Leatherwright all seemed a bit shy and self-conscious to be there, except for the guy in the gimp mask. heh
