Description People donΒ΄t go out as much these days. Almost everything is done through wires. Whatever happened to looking up to the sky, feel the sun and rain in your face, admire the beauty around us, value the simple things in life?

Enamel & spray on plywood with application of film, glass & hardware.

Sorry for the bad crop but since this work is big (140cmx75cm) it was hard for me to take a decent pic.

Ah. This just calms me down.
I can only imagine the white paint moving around over the sky as if it was northern lights. It looks really beautiful.

You did a wonderful job, and I'm sorry to hear it's broken.
This was an instant favourite, but I had to stare at it for a bit first though.

Thank you. I'm so glad for the effect it had on you. It was also one of my favourite pieces. Never gonna manage to get the same white effect again...

It made me sad to hear it was ruined. How did you do the white effect?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Iarart In reply to M07anna [2008-02-14 18:53:19 +0000 UTC]

By dripping. The paint I used was old. It was thick and therefor the drip was very thin, like spider web. I used this paint up, so now I have to wait another year for the new white to thicken

That sounds awfully boring, to sit and wait for paint to get old.

Thank you. I really loved this one, but the weight and size ruined the plywood. It doesnΒ΄t exist anymore I had to recycle it creating "Floating Away"

That's too bad
I do like what became of it though

I hope you can find a new method to strengthen your pieces so that they last longer though! They're wonderful!

Thank you. I'm so sad cause I liked this one so much and the plywood got all wrinkled because of it's size and weight. I should have applied more wooden bars on the back so this wouldn't happen. Now there's nothing to do about it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

davespertine In reply to Iarart [2008-02-08 17:13:54 +0000 UTC]

that is a shame, but then it was made from disposable technology, it all just falls apart in the end
you should keep recycling the parts though, giving them new life, rewiring them

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Iarart In reply to davespertine [2008-02-08 19:40:45 +0000 UTC]

That will not happen cause all the objects I use, in any work, are very well attached. I didn't pay much attention to this in the beggining, but ever since one of my works fell during a exhibition and came apart, I had to start to worry about it. If you look carefully you can see that all the boards are screwed to the plywood.
Anyway, I allready rewired the parts [link]

i really like the white wirey "clouds" over the city. it looks like static and gives this piece a really expressive appeal!

Static was the effect I wanted to give, so I'm glad it worked! Thank you.

Very nice. I like the concept for this one too~ I especially like the film and the other black pieces in contrast to that white exhaust~

Where did you collect computer parts for this one? You definately get a great industrial feel from them...

Iarart In reply to Cet-Tin [2007-12-07 10:27:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the comment and fav.
I collect a lot of objects that people throw away. The computer parts came from a shop. they usually keep non working hardware for me.

Cet-Tin In reply to Iarart [2007-12-07 18:20:55 +0000 UTC]

Thats really neat oo- Did you have a friend who worked at the shop or did you just go up and ask them for spare parts? I can understand the desire to collect things at least. I've got some pretty strange things despite not knowing how to use any of it for my art. I can really admire your vision in turning objects into pieces. ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Iarart In reply to Cet-Tin [2007-12-07 20:48:21 +0000 UTC]

I just went there and asked. I do that a lot in several shops. Sometimes things just lay around my workspace for months untill one day I figure out how to use them and sometimes when I see a object the transformed piece just pops up in my brain.
Take a look at these guys. Maybe you'll get inspired

This is great! I like how the fludity of the white paint contrasts with the hard edges of the computer components and film. It really captures the frenetic technological nature of modern life.

I was in doubt of adding the white paint, cause I usually don't use "raw" white in my works. But I'm glad I did. It gave a much greater impact indeed. Thanks for the fav.

it make two planes for the picture

and i guess if you have this home maybe on the wall you can see it from a distance or from close so it's just the same effect to approach it in real life
